More than 25 years mixing live sound"This drum head gave my kick drum the extra boooooom (extra Low freq) all Drumers and sound techs desire.I did add the Gibraltar Kick pad for the extra click and protection.

I’m a big Powerstroke 3. I use them on most Of my many bass drums. When I saw Steve Smith recommended the P3 with CS dot, I thought I would check it out.Sadly, this head isn’t for me. But it’s not a bad head, just not right for me. If you like that BIG 70’s Black Dot sound, it’s perfect, but I like something a little more subtle.Still giving it five stars because it’s perfect for what it’s supposed to be.

As a casual drummer, even making this type of upgrade can change the sound drastically, in a good way. My old beater was way past due for a replacement, and I am very happy to have gotten this one. My favorite part is the black dot, because it helps center my double bass and makes me feel that this head is more durable.

I purchased this head for the front of a 22 inch vintage 1976 Rogers bass drum.It sounds great now. Never better for 25 years. My old head had a crack that I taped upwith probably 5 layers of clear packing tape on both sides. This drum head is notinexpensive. After 2 hours of brand new playing, you cannot even tell where the beateris hitting.As of yesterday, I added a Remo bass drum beater pad. It's a 2.5 inch circularpad that adheres to the bass drum head where it's circumference encompasses thecenter of where that beater hits the head. It helps to protect the drum head fromdamage and also aids in ring and tone control as well as adds a small damper effect.I recommend doing this, however, it's not needed with this high quality drum head.
