I strongly prefer "spider" style tensioners over the long rubber-band style versions that come with most chain kits. They do a much better job of tensioning chains more evenly, and they're easier to adjust, too. But bear in mind the rubber (silicone?) these are made out of gets brittle over time. They break easily in the cold (which is when you put them on) so if you keep your chains in the bed of your truck, like most do, it's best to keep your spiders in your cab behind/under a seat to keep them warmer and more flexible. Also, these have very limited size ranges and they don't describe that range very well in the listing. I tried to loan one to a friend who had tires 2" bigger than mine and he broke an arm trying to get it on. Pro tip: buy a set of 6 "quick links" and keep them in your kit. They give you just enough extra reach on a larger tire in a pinch.

I recently bought a set of these tensioners. The tensioners fit great.
