Doesn’t matter where I go, if I’m wearing my Duster someone’s going to tell me they like it. Looks great, the oilskin fabric is thick enough to hold back the wind, and it keeps me dry in the rain. If you’re looking for a jacket to keep you dry this is probably more expensive than you’re looking for, but if you’re looking for a nice duster this one is great for the price.

Good jacket! I work in a shipyard in Mississippi, when it rains it rains a lot. When I’m walking the jobs in said weather keeps me dry enough. Yep it’s oily so it’s that’s a problem don’t get it. If you work hard in the elements. It’s a must have.

Definitely has the oil skin smell. It air's out after a bit. It's heavy duty and fits great

I purchased this coat about a year ago. It still drips oil on everything it touches and on the floor underneath it. It smells bad in spite of several washings. Cant wear it in the car because the seat will be oily and also smell. I thought if I set it out in the summer sun it might stop dripping oil but the only thing that stopped the drip was a professional cleaning but it still smells like an oil can and leaves an oily film on anything it touches. The cleaners recommended dry cleaning it in petroleum solvent even though it says not to. Be prepared to smell like a gas station and hang it over an oil drain pan for the first year. 10/11/2024: Still smells like oil and oil gets on everything it touches. a lot of the black color has washed out and now it is sort of dapple white. I only wore the coat once and it seems like it is destined for Goodwill. Wasted $90.00. There are good oilcloth coats but this is just a cheap pos.

We purchased this duster for cosplay, heavy expenditure for a costume. But a great price for a black oilskin duster. Ordered the black, bag says black... Coat is BROWN. *SIGH* BUMMER. It is still a nice coat but, man it sure was disappointing.

Guter Mantel, robust und die Größe stimmt. Allerdings riecht er stark nach diesem Öl und das ist irgendwie säuerlich. Man muß ihn definitiv also erst mal einige Tage lüften oder wirklich für Stallarbeit verwenden.

Short Review as of Nov. 12th, 2022.Initial impressions: There was a reviewer that said this coat was oily. Boy... were they right! This coat is OILY! I have seen some "oil cloth dusters" before in my day, and I kick myself for not just buying them at the store. They were of higher quality and I was under the impression that this coat would be close to that. It is not. There are thicker canvas coats out there with less... oil. But also priced significantly higher. For 70 bones, this coat is fine for what it is.Longer review:So, I understand that "oil" cloth can quite literally mean a cloth infused with oil. I'm a newbie at buying these coats, so I admit my lack of knowledge here. However, I have lived enough years to have encountered "oiled canvas dusters" in my day, and I must say that they sure made them better back then. The "canvas" on my coat was thinner than I expected (I could see through the fabric if there was a light source behind it). There are positives and negatives to this. The ones I've seen were much thicker and therefore significantly heavier. This coat weighs less. It is as if someone took my cotton bed sheets and infused them with oil, then made a coat out of it. Now, the dusters that I've come across (though advertised as "oiled canvas") resembled something closer to WAXED canvas. Very thick, waxed canvas. In fact, in order to "re-proof" these "oiled canvas" coats, you will most likely need to purchase something with wax in it. Yes, they need to be "re-proofed" every now and then - meaning, the "oil" in the canvas will need to be refreshed or renewed with a new layer or application of wax (or oil). I have other items which are waxed/oiled canvas and it takes a bit of time and upkeep (it's not like one of those modern polyester coats). This was the first coat of its kind that came leaving an oily sheen on my person after handling it (I'm fine with this, but don't love it).So, why the deduction of two stars? The canvas is a bit thin. Frankly, this does not feel like an item that will be "re-proofed" or "handed down." This seems like a single generational item - if you know what I mean. I expect "canvas" items to be thicker and tougher. Not like... cotton bed sheets. When I think canvas, I'm thinking something similar to "Carhart." Its not a Carhart (I know). But it is also not really... "canvas." The collar on this coat is so flimsy... It will not be holding up against any sort of windy rain. If the rain is just simply falling straight down, and LIGHTLY... eh, maybe. I've simply never come across such a thin collar before (-1 star for materials). Also, the oil. I'm ok with it being oily, but... I just don't know what kind of oil this is, and if its something safe or unsafe to have in constant contact with my skin. I do wish they had included some sort of orientation papers (as I feel I'm definitely missing something about these old timey types of clothing) or some sort of assurance that this was "human friendly" oil... I mean, is it flammable? Is it ok for me to breathe in these fumes? I don't know. I'm planning on keeping this coat, but I sure wish they would have included some care instructions or what to expect. Maybe I "never had no business buying such a coat in the first place" - because I simply don't know enough about them. Maybe these coats are just for cowboys and ranch hands... still, if only people who knew about these items bought them, they would simply dry up in the free market, right? (-1 star for questionable oil and lack of care instructions).Anyway, thanks for reading this far! I don't write these reviews for the money (cause there ain't any), but I do write them to see if there are any people out there reading them! So, share the love if you want me to keep reviewing these items (on my own time and my own dime, of course). Its free for you and fun for me! Take care and hope this helped!

The coat was exactly as described, not sure why there are any negative comments. The only improvement I can suggest is to offer it in Extra Small. The Small one goes down to my feet but hey, I'll be well protected from the elements!
