Not as dark black in color as I would have hoped, they seem a bit of a washed out blackish grey. Perfect size and thickness though!

I purchased these to use as chargers/placemats for an outdoor party. Very pretty and they are just as pictured. They are a little thin, so do not expect them to be extremely sturdy. They will not hold up to liquid, but over all I really enjoyed using them. They made for a beautiful table! I would imagine they would work well for crafts, too.
