the yt reviews were correct, this is the best third party controller that wont cost you an arm and a leg in the current retro market.I connected it to my second controller port and have been playing super mario bros 2 the lost levels.the ergonomic update on the backside of the controller are definitely a nice quality of life update.I think the only superior controller combination at this stage of the game would be a raphnet Wii to GC adapter and using a wii classic controller.

The quality is like it was made first-party. Not too heavy, good D-pad.The buttons feel right, and it’s none too expensive compared to some other options out there.I mainly use it with my gameboy player, as I do some classic gaming. Gameboy Player does it a little bit better as it’s capable of displaying Gameboy Color games unlike the Super Gameboy.

Got this in and tried it out on both my Gamecube and Wii could not get a single button input to register. The controller actually feels really nice I was very excited to use this but I guess I got a lemon. Tried doing the Macros on the back as well and it just would not work whatsoever. Disappointed for sure

For a clone controller, the controller doesn't feel mushy or clicky which you get from cheap third-party controller. The B, A, X, Y, L & R button feels responsive and remains that GameCube look while trying to have similar layout to the SNES controller. The Z button I found to be little small and accidentally press it when trying to press L/R buttons.Major reason you would want to get this controller rather than using an regular GameCube controller is that the D-Pad isn't awkwardly small. The biggest annoyance I have with that controller is that at default, ithe D-Pad emulates Control Stick controller which navigating on Swiss was unbearable and I had to hold Start + D-Pad Up for 5 seconds for the controller to use D-Pad controls on a D-Pad. This sounds minor but it is really annoying to had to do that

This is one that looked so nice and I really wanted to love it. I knew going in that this model had no joysticks. I think I was just figuring I'd like it for other retro games like for the SNES but not having the joysticks makes such a huge difference. Now keep in mind, there are instructions for how to toggle the DPAD to act like a joystick if needed, and it has options for turbo. However, the option is so clunky and just doesn't work for certain games that need to you to be able to use both the DPAD and joysticks at the same time. It's such a shame too because the SNES shape is so comfortable and reminds me a lot of my 8bitdos.So while it looks nice, maybe it's a fun addition just for the aesthetic, I can't honestly recommend it. It's getting a 3 star rating because technically it has all the functions it has in the description and it's comfortable. If the same design had both joysticks and no awkward macros, it would be a 5 star for sure.

I bought and tested it and everything worked well, except that the GC only recognized the controller after booting a game. I put it away in a box so it wont get dirty, wet, dusty, etc. Today I tried it again and the GC doesnt recognize it at all, in total I used it for like 5 minutes...

While the Gamecube controller is popular, even its most avid fans would have to admit that it's less than ideal for 2D games and playing pretty much anything on Game Boy Player. The d-pad is too small and the shoulder buttons have far too much travel.Back in the early 00's, Hori made a pad that addressed these issues. They took a SNES controller, and adapted it to work with the GC's button layout and interface. Unfortunately, it was released in limited quantities and has become quite the collector's item (fetching around $200 on eBay). The Legacy GC clearly takes inspiration from that controller, and offers the same functionality at a tenth of the cost.So how does it fare? Really well actually. The build quality is excellent for the price and is quite ergonomic. The d pad is comfortable and accurate, the buttons are tactile and feel just like the buttons on the official pad. It also has functionality for turbo, should you feel the need.As a Game Boy player controller, it's hard to ask for much more. However, should you try and use it as a general Gamecube or Wii controller, it's going to fall short. Much like the original Hori pad, this lacks any kind of analog stick. There is however, a macro to address this. By holding start and a direction on the d pad, you can change the functionality of the d-pad to act as the analog stick or c-stick. (Ideally, I would have preferred a switch on the back, but this works too.) This does extend functionality to get through menus, or perhaps a round of Smash Bros, but it's not meant to replace your OEM controllers. While this is compatible with both GC and Wii (as well as Switch with an adapter), it will ultimately still function as a GC controller. If you want to use it for something that uses the traditional diamond layout, you'll need to remap your buttons in software (assuming this is even an option). I appreciate the efforts into making this as versatile as possible, even going so far as to split the Z buttons into ZL and ZR, but that's more of a value add. This is far from a universal solution. This is a wonderful controller in the right application. Anyone looking to play Game Boy games and 2D games on their Gamecube or Wii are sure to love this and I highly recommend it. Those looking for more functionality should look elsewhere.

This is a solid controller at a solid price. It feels comfortable and sturdy. The cord is nice and long which I feel is important for corded controllers. Most importantly the controller is compatible with any system that has a GameCube controller port. The box specifically says compatible with GameCube and Wii, but it will also work with the Nintendo Switch if you happen to have a GameCube to USB adapter such as the 4 port adapter that was released for Super Smash Bros. For WiiU. At least it's working that way for me. Your success with other GCN to USB controller adapters may very.

I will first say that this controller works just fine. I was able even to use my GameCube adapter on my Switch to use it. I tried it on the Switch Online SNES and Gameboy games, and its perfect for those use cases. Outside of that, however, this really doesn't have that much use in modern games, in my opinion. As for build quality, its just ok. The buttons don't feel terrible, but the whole build quality definitely feels cheap. The buttons are also way too stiff when pressed down and it just doesn't feel good. It's an okay device, and I might use it here and there, and it definitely works, but its cheap build quality and limited use case definitely are detriments.

Perfect cord length, good D-Pad for 2D games and tank controls. The face buttons are a little more resistive and loud than I'd prefer, but still work fine and don't stop this controller from being the best option for D-Pad games.
