Anyone looking for a welding jacket like this is probably like me. Someone who got a cheaper welder, started to weld, and went "wait, I can get sunburned?". I then browsed forums, looked up different models, and settled on this one.A few things to know, you should be aware of what kind of welding / grinding this is aimed at. This is not meant for overhead welding or anything that is going to have potential for giant puddles of molten metal to fall on you. This is meant for sparks and light slag. If you need that level of protection, you're going to need leather. That being said, this jacket works perfect for my needs. I'm just a hobbyist using a flux core welder, mainly welding standing over a bench.Fitment was good. I'm 6'2 and 175lbs. I notoriously have issues with purchasing jackets, since my arms and torso are long, but I'm skinny. For me, the medium fits great. Comes down close to my wrists, and the waist adjustment makes it fit tight. Have no issues getting the sleeves in gloves. It also comes far up my neck, which I like.A few features that I don't think I saw in the listing; There are two inner pockets (one has a zipper) and two arm pockets (would fit a normal sized pen).Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. I think this works great for a hobbyist who wants peace of mind for a low cost.

Awesome coat, not overly hot. I use it for tig welding, doesn’t feel like your wearing a coat, sure beats wearing leathers

Right fit, I’m old so getting lager belts as well as shirts. Tig welding, plasma cutting, stick, and grinding, get a lot of holes. So far, not a one. Jacket so far so good. Will by more. Cool in hot shop.

Great for the price but not really suitable for heavy welding.I use it for mechanical work and light welding. The material is basically heavy denim so it will burn with direct contact to molten metal, but definitely keeps the sparks off.The fit is really nice. I just followed the size chart and it looks great on me. Very professional considering it has flames down the arms.I would like to see this same jacket sold as a mechanics jacket with rear side pockets and a breast pocket

Works fine im currently in highschool taking a welding course we weld pretty much everyday for 1.5 hours. So far ive only used this with SMAW and its holding up as expected. Only complaint is that its kind itchy on the sleeves. Will make an update when i start to weld with MIGUpdate: Ive welded in all positions in stick, it holds up started with mig the other day again its perfect. Every now and then big sparks will land in crevice of elbow and feel a slight slight burn like someone pulling your arm hair but its better than burns without it. As to the other guy who got burned by slag i dont think any jacket will protect you againts that unless its made out of leather...this is meant for up to meduim duty.

i went with the medium as that is my average shirt size and when i got it i thought hmm those sleeves are short but everything else fits perfectly. once i tried on my gloves with this and started grind some metal i quickly remembered i usually roll up my long sleeves to keep them out of the way when working so after i realized they were meant to be like that i decided i really like it. nice quality, heavyduty and yet light weight. Not to uncomfortable in the summer yet warm enough in the winter. very comfortable overall. with all the sparks and molten metal i have thrown at it i have not had any holes. I have used it for smaw/stick, gmaw/mig/mag, gtaw/tig welding and haven't been burned yet. Even when grinding i bearly feel the warmth from the sparks, and it even does a decent job protecting against flying wires from a wire wheel, i have only had 2 wires actually penetrate into the skin. After 1 hand wash it shrunk slightly but still feels like new. Ive had it for 6 months welding almost everyday and very little signs of wear. i will buy this again once this one wears out.

I bought this jacket as my first welding jacket. I wish you could give half stars, because 3 stars is a bit low but 4 stars is definitely too high. In reality I give it 3.5 stars.GOOD POINTS: It is reletively cool and breezy compared to some protective gear. It is CHEAP. It has a coating that makes it more burn and heat resistant than a thick cotton or denim shirt. And five stars for style, It looks great! Overall it is not a bad value for the rock bottom price.BAD POINTS: If you weld for a few hours UV rays will still get through and give your skin that "prickly" sensation that lets you know you've been bombarded, just the same as if you were just wearing denim. If you're fair skinned, you may be a little red.It is not great for use around heavy sparks. I was grinding a piece of metal and was shocked to see my coat had completely burned through at a spot, but for all I know this may be true of the more expensive fabric jackets sold by larger companies like Miller. I don't have another jacket to compare it to in this regard. The fabric is somewhat poor at tear resistance. That spot that got burned through, when I pulled on the coat to undo the snaps, there was a loud ripping noise and the jacket now has a HUGE gash in it that I will have to sew up and patch with denim or leather. It is okay for a welding student on a budget, but you might be better off with a thick cotton/denim shirt and a cheap set of leather sleeves and apron, or just going ahead and buying a more expensive full leather jacket.

I'm sure a leather welding jacket is more protective, but I use this jacket for home use around the home and little fabrication work on my jeep. It's a very light jacket, I'd say it's similar to wearing a softshell jacket. You can flex and move around pretty easily. It has little pockets for you to put a sharpie or marker on each arm around the bicep area which is a very nice touch. I'm choose a size medium. I have a true 38" chest measured without shirt and this fits fine for me. I could probably be a 40" and it would still be okay - after that it gets tight. Also note that Ian wears this same jacket in a few episodes of extreme 4x4 which I thought was pretty neat :)
