This is a great product for having something that extends significantly from a small space, and holds a fair amount of weight at the end. Quite rigid when deployed, and takes some effort to retract. Highly recommended as an alternative to linear rails or slides, if you can manage to integrate it.

I purchased this Revolve Boat Hook based on its unique design and compact size. But it does not work as advertised. When opened it is not rigid enough to push off a dock or grab/pull something. It needs to be redesigned as boat hooks are critical for use on your boat. I sent it back as defective requesting refund of the high cost $96.50. The Seller**General Electronics** accepted my return and arbitrarily charged a restocking fee of 100% sale price for a defective boat hook! I do not recommend the purchase of this Revolve boat hook nor purchasing anything from the seller GENERAL ELECTRONICS.

This is a unique and very sturdy design. Rigidity is amazing and ease of deployment excellent. There surely must be other applications for this concept. I could easily see a roll up hiking staff using this technology.
