Ridgid tools are well built. Used them for 20 plus years as an electrician, this one is no different.

It doesn't always start the threads easily

Bought this Ridgid product after buying 2 sets of the $50 ratcheting kits sold here on Amazon. The Goflame and Goplus $50 ratchet kits turned out to be identical products, even though they were sold by different places with slightly different names.I only had one 1/2" brass pipe I needed to thread so I figured with the softer metal and buying 2 kits I would be able to get the job done. Nope, neither of them cut the threads deep enough (I ended up testing this on 3 ends of brass pipe). So I ordered this Ridgid pipe and 1/2" die and it followed the existing threads I had cut but halfway I hit resistance. I was then able to relatively easily finish cutting the grooves properly and my PEX fitting screwed on easily and sealed water tight. Excellent product for me but my only caveat is I only partially threaded one 1/2" brass pipe with it so I can't comment on durability or use on black steel pipe. The build quality/weight is obviously night and day better than the kits I've mentioned here.

When it comes to plumbing tools, Ridgid is simply the best. Cost a little more but in the long run much better.
