After working with Jenny in customer service I discovered that my old style crimping tool was not compatible with these new pass-through plugs. My old style crimping tool was pushing the gold contacts too far up into the plastic body of the plug so that they would not make contact with the corresponding female portion of whatever I was plugging into, laptop, wall jack, etc. My old crimping tool did not have a trimming blade that could cut the pass-through wires flush with the end of the plug. Once I obtained a newer compatible crimp tool from the manufacturer I was able to make workable plugs and it was much easier than the old way of making these. The take-away from this is that the right crimping tool is essential for working with these plugs. This seller was great to work with and the plugs seem like good products.

I hadn't purchased any new RJ45 connectors in a few years and wasn't familiar with all these new pass through connectors. These are priced really cheap, but there's nothing wrong with the quality and I was able to crimp them perfectly using my old crimper which wasn't designed for pass through connectors. After lining up my wires, I simply pushed them though the connector, snipped off the excess with a sharp, small wire cutter, then pulled back on the cable just slightly before crimping. The connection works perfectly and feels solid.

During this hardship time due to covid19, it is hard to find someone to do your network wiring at home for home school. So I decided to do my own DIY network wiring around the house and also to my extended families. I bought this "RJ45 Cat5 Cat5e Connectors End Pass Through Gold Plated" hopefully that will make my job easy by putting thru all the 8 wires thru the connectors slots without the hassle of guessing if the wires are secured or not. This connectors are great for DIY jobs, this connectors really makes your connection a snap and save time.PROs:1) Easy installation2) Reasonable price / Affordable price3) Gold Plated connectors4) Good Quality5) Holes are precisely drilled6) DurableCONs:Find Nothing yet I will update my reviews in a few months if I find something.I only bought 50pcs. of these so when I run out I definitely buy this again. I highly recommend this connectors.

So these do make it easier to make sure you have your ethernet wires in the right order in the connector. I've done non-pass-thru connectors for years, and it does take some care to make sure that you have the wires in there correctly. Pass-thru connectors make that easier and make it easier to fully seat the cable correctly so the outer jacket gets crimped because the amount that you have to strip is much less precise. But you really do need the special crimper that trims off the protruding wires while crimping it. Trying to do it manually would be almost as annoying, and much less effective, than simply having the correct tool. There are multiple such tools available on Amazon of course, and if you're just getting started crimping Ethernet cables, I'd suggest getting one of those and standardizing on pass-through ends. However, it does appear that these aren't completely gold plated. Functionally, I don't know that that's a real problem, but all my previous ends have been fully gold-plated.

These connectors are easy to use and provide a solid connection. I used an older crimp tool meant for the older non-pass-thru style connectors. That older crimp tool worked fine. I just snipped off the ends of the wires as they exit the connector after using the old style crimp tool. No problem. A new crimp tool would have cost more than the connectors. Anyway, I had no fails with these connectors. The pass thru feature makes it really easy to make sure that the correct colors of the wires go into the correct openings/slots in the connector.I used them with Cat 5e cabling. They worked perfectly. I had a bit of Cat6 cabling and tried using them with that. Not surprisingly, the OD of the Cat6 wires (with insulation) is too big for these connectors. So make sure you order the right connectors for the cabling you will be using. Maybe you will need two different sizes of connectors?
