I used this splitter in a Christmas light display but it stopped working after a few days. It had corroded and caused the connection to fail. If you use this outdoors make sure it is shielded from water.

I was needing an extender for a home system and, according to the description, these would do what I was needing. They arrived as stated but when I attmepted to use them, nothing that the description or instructions proved workable. I removed them and started over thinking I attached a cable incorrectly. The end result was the same. Regardless of how they were connected, the second system never would receive a network signal. The following is from the description: "Easily convert your RJ45 connection in to two RJ45 sockets with this network splitter. Allow two computers to share high speed DSL, cable. modem and Ethernet ports No router require." But this was added to the description AFTER in bought them: "NOTE: This Ethernet splitter allows two computers to share one Ethernet line ONE AT A TIME, but it doesn't support both computer to connect onto the internet simultaneously." Why would someone looking for an extender buy this with that statement in the description. The sad part is I bought two sets of two. I threw them away. They weren't worth the effort to return not to mention that they may have been shipped to someone else...Bill

It does not give LAN connectivity to 2 PCS together - only one at a time

I bought 10 of these splitters from Oxsubor and all were tested with a NS-468 cable tester and they all tested and work fine. Most people that have issues are trying to connect an extra device in their PC network. That will only work if you are ONLY using ONE active device at a time. If you want both PC devices to work at the same time you need a 5 port SWITCH and you'll actually have 4 extra devices that will all work together.

Purchased this to use either my personal computer or work laptop during the day as they would never be used at the same time. However, you need to consider your application because such a low speed isn't practical for many people. Didn't have any problems staying connected, but again, it's not viable for work or video games.

I run a Christmas light show, and the RS-485 computer output travels on CAT-5. While devices are normally daisy-chained, I needed to branch the signal, and these work perfectly.Ethernet cannot be split, however. 1 star is deducted because of this confusion. Even though the description clearly states that two items cannot communicate concurrently, it should not be called an Eternal Splitter -- it is a CAT-5 splitter. If their intention was to sell this for Ethernet use, then I don't see the point. While I'm shocked that my niche use was provided for, I wish there was truth in the Chinese advertising.

Did not do what it states it can do. I returned it for a refund. So first I configured it to split an Ethernet cable from my router to run a Tivo box and a Sonos speaker with built in Alexa. Both in our home gym. Our gym could not receive a good enough wifi signal consistently for the Sonos. So connecting it via Ethernet was the solution. I already had the Ethernet cable ran into the gym. First I connected one of these splitters to the cable and ran two out. The Tivo worked fine with the first cable connected but once the Sonos was connected the Tivo would lose it's connection. Then I tried the configuration like they illustrate with two Ethernet cables coming out of the router and into a splitter. Then on the end of the one Ethernet cable using the other splitter. Nope!! Same issue. I thought this configuration had broke something because I had to reboot my router and Tivo box to even get it working again with my original setup. So I asked my IT expert brother and he told me I needed an Ethernet switch. I know, you would think a switch means either one or the other but the fact is they act more like a splitter. So I bought the TP-Link 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch | Ethernet Splitter | Sturdy Metal w/ Shielded Ports | Life Time Warranty| Plug-and-Play | Traffic Optimization | Unmanaged (TL-SG105) for $17.81 and it works great!! I can watch TV on the Tivo and talk to Alexa and play music at the same time. For watching video, I figured I would need a Gigabit switch and not a cheaper and slower one. Bottom line: a splitter kind of works like a switch-you only get one device to work at a time if it works at all. And a switch works more like a splitter. Hope this helps.
