I was getting an intermittent CEL for an evaporative emissions leak on my 07 XC70. I figured I'd try these before replacing the cap. I haven't had a CEL since I installed the new seal (several months). Much cheaper than a new cap.

First, Volvo even designed their gas caps!! The design allows replacement of the rubber seal when the seal wears out or gets cracked.Thus, I was troubleshooting an issue with the vapor system (which manages gasoline fumes) in my '04 Volvo XC70, & saw that the first troubleshooting step is to replace the rubber ring in the gas cap. The gas-cap ring is easily removed and replaced. The replacement that I got from Amazon does its job, and allowed for additional troubleshooting. The new rubber ring is of good quality and I predict will last at least another 10 years. Volvo designers made it so you don't have to get an entire new gas cap if the seal goes bad!! Good Amazon product; GREAT Volvo Design. Volvo for LIFE.

Although this is not OEM the fit and finish certainly makes up for it. I only buy OEM for my Volvo but couldn't find an OEM gas cap seal. Took a chance on this $8.95 part and it worked out. It's a good quality rubber and fits as it should. Take my word, this is a good replacement part.

Thank goodness for all the reviews on here. After a check engine light panic and go ogling and review scouring I figured for ten bucks even if it didn't solve my problem it was worth it. Went on easily and at first the light stayed on and I was bummed. While I went about my normal business trying to decide what to try next, the light went off! Took a couple days but this did the trick.

Noticed I was getting worse mpg from my 01 V70 XC. The old gasket I had around the fuel filler cap was full of cracks and my guess was it wasn’t sealing properly. Slapped this on there and now I’m getting about the right mpg I should be getting given my driving style.Works great! Definitely recommend.

Although this seal didn't look exactly like the original Volvo gas cap seal (had a "flat" look to top and bottom) it fit perfectly and after a few hours, the 'check engine' light finally went off. I was surprised how cracked and in need of replacement the original seal was. This is an inexpensive fix for that 'slight emissions leak' fault.
