They're not "terrible". I mean, they hammer. Very soft steel, mushrooms every blow. Needs regular filing and you definitely want to wear eye protection. Handle is hard plastic, like a screw driver, and a bit too round in shape. Kinda feels weird in the hand.But again.. they hammer, and there's like... two of them. So, kind of a win.

I bought these “gold mining” hammers for my two grandsons. We had a great time last week in the NC mountains looking for gold. The hammers were a perfect choice for their enjoyment. We did find one 10k piece. Great several days.
