Since Rocksmith is not sold on Xbox anymore. I am glad I got it and since I am new it is perfect for me to learn different cords and helps me practice.

I received my copy of Rocksmith 2014 for the Xbox One last week, and I've enjoyed playing it for a few hours since then. It's really an outstanding tool to get you using your guitar; I'm amazed by how well they managed to make a Guitar Hero-style game that actually uses a real guitar. I am not entirely convinced that I would become great at playing the guitar just from this game--you're learning tabs; the game is feeding you rhythms and stuff, so you don't have to think as much about what you're doing; you don't have the benefit of someone teaching you fingerings/technique--but compared to how much I played my guitar prior to receiving this game (very little) and how much I've been playing it since (a lot more), there is a solid benefit to be had here.As someone who grew up taking traditional piano lessons, I have to say that it's so much more fun and motivating to have the ability to play along to some of your favorite songs in what is essentially guitar karaoke (so many songs are still as of summer 2024 available as DLC that it's kind of overwhelming) than to do a bunch of Hanon exercises or something, though as I mentioned above, there's a benefit to be had from disciplined practice of the fundamentals that I am not sure whether Rocksmith 2014 will be able to provide. Either way, though, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and am having fun. Any amount of playing an instrument is infinitely better than no time at all, though you still need to make sure that you're practicing diligently to improve. Some negatives: input lag issues can be finicky to resolve--since your guitar is not designed to be a video-game controller, you have to tinker with settings and connections a bit to make sure that A) your audio isn't lagging the video and B) your video isn't lagging the audio. The game includes a video timing correction setting that you can tinker with for the latter, and for the former, it recommends that you plug into analog speakers or headphones rather than using HDMI out to the TV for sound. This is obviously a minor nuisance. The game also sometimes isn't entirely clear about whether you "missed" a note because of a timing issue or a pitch issue or something else, which can be rather frustrating. It does well in like 85% of cases, but sometimes it doesn't seem to 'hear' quite right. Also, the music licensing scheme for the game is from the early 2000s--other than the plentiful included songs, which cover a wide variety of genres and are generally quite good--you buy your songs piecemeal. So, if you want a particular track, that'll be $3 please. This isn't a pro or a con per se--you can control how much you spend and what you spend on, and presumably you will have access to that DLC in perpetuity once you purchase it. Just be aware that if you want to play a bunch of cool DLC songs, the money adds up pretty fast.

This is an awesome "game". It's more like a guitar lesson suite that learns you and moves at your pace. There's no losing the game, just learning the songs. Plenty of DLC available. This is awesome for any beginner to intermediate guitarist!

You can still play base game but as of January 2025 the DLC store does not seem to be working anymore. All that aside;// This game is absolutely helping me learn how to play a song. There is no hanging out in a comfortable zone. The game will detect when your note accuracy is enough to go up or down on difficulty. It can be jarring when the difficulty goes up, because you think you know what’s next, but that section you “had it down” just got a bit more intense. The game will push you. I got my first ever electric guitar around Christmas, having no idea how to play, but after only a few sittings, I am able to pick up my guitar and play that song I have been practicing on the game. No exaggeration, about three hours of playing this game across a period of one week, took me from zero experience to “I can play along with a Nirvana song.” If you are just starting to play guitar, and you don’t want to pay for the subscription service that the most recent version (rocksmith+) is pushing, this is probably a great option for you.

I knew the game was discontinued digitally, but I read that the disc version still worked. So I got it in hopes that I could start learning how to play my new guitar in a way that might be easier for me. I broke out my Xbox One, popped the disc in, and nothing. It treats it as if nothing is even there. I checked other games, and they worked. It’s just this one.

Gran gioco. Anche se definirlo gioco è riduttivo; è un vero e proprio corso di chitarra, mascherato da gioco.Quindi, l'apprendimento diventa anche divertente! L'unica cosa che manca è lo studio della teoria musicale, che si può studiare a parte.

Got this for my son after we got him a guitar. He is really shy and wants to do everything on his own, also doesn't want to be told what to do so lessons were not my first thought. My husband and I grew up on Rock band and wanted to give this a try because its a game but you are still learning. It starts off at beginner lever and then as you learn it adds more chords.... super smart and it really is fun! Needless to say my son is now playing songs that he probably would have never bothered with before and we love it. Definitely worth the purchase if you have a beginner guitar player

Rocksmith 2014 Edition with Real Tone Cable (Xbox One)Personally i only bought this as i needed another real tone cable and value wise it was a steal considering the real tone cable are getting expensive However, i must have played around a couple of hundreds hours since the release of Rocksmith. This is a great tool to help you get into the world of guitar, while just playing to tunes in comfort. The game comes with a 'riff repeater' which allows you to play parts of a song over at a slower pace and it builds up speed. If you want to learn some techniques then this game offers some really nice mini games for scales, chords, bending, slides, etc. Which really bring fun into playing the same exercise over and over although sometimes frustrating but Ive always enjoyed them.I know people complain alot about lag ive played this on the PS4 which wasn't too bad the PS5 was different and at some points became unplayable while other times could be fine.On the Xbox series x this wasn't too bad i actually felt it played better with less lag input or framerate issues. than the PS4 and PS5 i never played this on the xbox one console but i would think its rather the same. This is doesn't change the fact that if you want to become a better guitar player then practice and theory is still the way forward however, this will still be somewhat a good learning tool.
