On a Jeep Wrangler, the tailgate opens from the left hand side. If you think about a fire, you want the fire extinguisher to be as quick to get to as possible, so you'll open your Jeep Wrangler tailgate from the left side and reach in. Well, when you reach-in you want to access the velcro straps as soon as possible and logically, they should be pulled from the right side of the fire extinguisher, not tucked away on the left. This will make sense once you install it, but I'll still give this 5-stars, but every second can count in a fire, so the quicker you can get the extinguisher out the better for a future design of this.

When I saw that this fire extinguisher holder fits a Jeep roll bar, I figured that there can’t be that much difference between that and a tractor roll bar, and I was right. This fire extinguisher holder is a good fit for my tractor ROPS rollbar, but I was disappointed that there weren’t any instructions included in the package. There are so many straps that could go different directions that I had to go back to the product page online to see their tiny video. After that it wasn’t hard to figure it out and install it, but would it have been so hard to install a small page with a diagram? I don’t have the best web access in my garage, so this took a lot longer than it should have. The holder seems to work well, but I am concerned about how it will hold up in cold temperatures, since the plastic might get stiff. So far, it is working fine at about 10 degrees F without getting stiff or brittle, so that is good. Sun could also degrade the plastic over time. There is no mention of either of these issues in the product description. Seems like a good product, but they could do a better job with the explanations.

I drive a Jeep, mostly on the road, but occasionally down trails, off road. I feel it is important to carry several items for self rescue or to assist other drivers in an emergency. You should have an emergency window breaker, a seatbelt cutter, and a fire extinguisher at a minimum. I have personally used all of these items to help others after accidents. My fire extinguisher used to be wedged in the cargo area of my jeep, but I wanted to mount it to the roll cage, to get it out of the way, and to put it where it could be accessed easily from inside or outside the vehicle. This fire extinguisher strap holder does the job. It straps quickly to the roll cage in the cargo area of my Wrangler and holds a small fire extinguisher nicely. I like that the extinguisher is visible from outside the car, and is easy to reach from the back hatch. The webbing and velcro on this strap are good quality.
