It's hemispherical, pressed steel bowls are hot formed for highest quality and saucer shaped for most efficient skimming. I work in VRLA battery R&D. We bought this to skim the lead pot when making posts and straps on experimental cells. It works very well.

Works great for skimming slag off my scrap melts. Sometimes copper gets stuck if the ladle hasn’t been pre-heated, but I have left the skimmer inside my foundry for 15 mins and can still grab the handle with my bare hand. Would definitely recommend.

Well built and excited to use on my next meltPros-•great if your looking for a quick an easy solution•Well built•Recieved much earlier then expected (3 days earlier than the earliest excepted delievery time)Cons•looks as if it was made when I placed my order and shipped as soon as the handle was welded on. It still had rust on the handle and overall it had a rushed and unfinished look (which is fine since its for scraping dross but it could have atleast been cleaned of rust)•Extremely expensive for what it is could be made in a shop with a welder and drill press for atleast a fourth of the price
