I have a long, 4” PVC extension on one of my downspouts to guide water away from my house that’s a perfect hideaway for critters. Especially now in the winter months. This gutter guard is also 4” in diameter so I needed a coupler to attach it properly. Your experience will vary depending on your downspout diameter. It includes a screw to secure it if you don’t want to use glue but was snug enough with the just coupler for me. The flap door doesn’t appear to be an airtight seal so even a trickle of water should seep out if it remains fully closed. I will have to test it further with my hose in the warmer weather. A white version would be a good option as many downspouts are white.

I was very impressed with the product, but not impressed with the way Amazon packaged it. I bought two of these one time, and they were packaged correctly. The next three I bought were just thrown in a box and all skinned up. I don’t think that is the company‘s fault, but I believe that is Amazon that caused that. I had never had any problem with critters getting in my gutter, but I didn’t want there to be a chance of that. I am so glad I bought these. Thank you, Gutter gate, for a great product! Amazon, please work on your packaging.

For a larger volume of water I have no worries about how this is designed. But for light rains that don't generate much water, I'm not convinced that the door will open, which could back up water.It is easy to use and install but the more I look at it, I am just not happy with the design. I don't think that I would order again. Also, the hinge will be prone to accumulate grass, dirt, and other environmental debris that will further inhibit opening. So yeah I'm not convinced that the design will work long term.

I like the concept of this flapped PVC pipe to keep critters from living in the shed drain. Seems sturdy, but time will tell if it can hold up to the elements. Another reason I ordered this - it was made in the USA !The product I received appears to have been used. It is not new. Old stickers, tape, multiple scratches and gouges, not clean - there is no way this happened in the box that came from Amazon to me. Has a 'new item' sticker on it from Amazon but that's up for debate. Yes, this is going to be installed outside, but for a consumer to receive something this beat-up as a new item isn't really acceptable. Gutter Gate or Amazon take note.

We have a large roof and the water moves very quickly down the spouts. This deflects in a way that gives me more control over where the outflow goes and the pressure in which it hits anything outside of the catch basin. Nice, simple, and best of all it is effective.

In my neck of the woods we have Chipmunks upon Chipmunks, and since we had new gutters installed that is their favorite place to live. These gutter guards have been a lifesaver. In order to use this round one I did have to go to local hardware store and find a PVC adapter to bridge between my steel downspout and the round gutter guard.I really like how it is effective at ceiling out the Chipmunks, does allow any who might currently be residing in the gutter into exit safely but not return, and let's all the water flow freely out without having to worry about it getting clogged up like it would with a mesh or a grate end-piece, (especially since this is on the back side of the house in a part of the yard I don't frequent much).The last few nights, without the nocturnal noise of critters in my gutters, have been much more peaceful for sleeping.

Nice product. Hinged so I don’t have to DIY make my own. Icon ected mine to the green SDR35 pvc pipe using a regular 4” pvc coupler. Used a mallet to bang the coupler on all the way tight, then easily hand wiggled the black Guttergate item right in most of the way. The flap opens nicely for full flow from the pipe, and it is appropriately weighted to stay closed against small critters. I did not glue the coupler or Guttergate on so that if I don’t like it in the future I can still remove it and maybe the coupler and have the original green pipe. Pretty sure it is staying put for the rest of its life. 👍 recommended.Highly recommended.

This is a basic gutter cover, I happened to get it right before we had a good shower, so we were able to test it right away. Easy to install, you just pop it over the end of your gutter. When it rains, the water will be able to push it's way out, the little door on the end is hinged. Helpfully, nothing can get its way back up. Super easy solution, just pop it on and you're done.
