The Rover Dark assists in producing a full, centered tone. One can compare the results of this ligature with the age-old technology of the string ligature. Enjoyed especially by classical performers for its warm sound, The Rover Dark is our most favored and top selling ligature. Rover ligatures hold the reed to the mouthpiece with no pressure points. Because there are no pressure points or rigid constraints on the reed, the reed seats evenly to the facing of the mouthpiece reducing stuffiness and improving tonal clarity. A really superb ligature, this is by far the best one I’ve ever bought!! As I said above, it keeps the reed firmly in place and produces a beautiful rich sound in all registers. There’s much less squeaks too which is absolutely amazing!! I now have them for my clarinet and all my saxophones, and my sound is so much better. A huge improvement in the tone so I’m absolutely delighted!! Thank you so much Amazon!!

It works well with my new Meyer mouthpiece.

Hard to tighten and get just right. Rides a bit high on the mouthpiece. Slides around too much. But, the quality of the make is excellent. Maybe I will get used to it. Takes longer than a standard ligature to attach to the mouthpiece.

My son loves it! He said he could tell an immediate improvement in his sound and ease of play and it’s now his go-to ligature.

I have been playing on this ligature for about 3 months. I really like the way it plays and also holds the reed securely. This is a great product for the price.

I'm becoming increasingly frustrated at mistakes and missing parts from orders I place. The ligature itself is of very good quality and feels as though it will last a long time.On opening the package, the box inside was open and and an insert was missing, not the kind of service I expect, especially when the ligature is an expensive purchase.Customer service from the manufacturer, Rovner, however, is exemplary and a replacement was arranged within minutes.

It was like tap water versus coconut cream. The sound I got instantly, first try, was far more resonant. louder but with creamy tone. Richer and easier to listen to. I haven't even broken it in or experimented with placement yet.I was more in tune, and some notes that were wooly and constrained sounding on my cheap ligature sprang to life and sounded more even and like the others. I was really in shock. While it's probably smart to not get conned into thinking magic gear will Gove you a shortcut to good tone, this still felt like removing an obstacle to my development. I feel like the work I put in is more meaningful and under control.I can only talk about replacing your stock metal ligature that comes with a cheap sax with a Rovner. I dont know much, but im an expert on that already. It's way way better, you will notice. For thirty bucks or so, you'd just better.

Not sure why this ligature got negative review!! What I realized was that maybe someone didn't read the instructions that advised "use cork grease to break in ligature". It fit like a glove von my Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and synthetic #2.5 reed. Sound was bold and I played 4 major cords flawlessly!!!

Everyone should have a fabric ligature. This model or one of it’s cousins, the Dark or Light. They’re a must when trialling a mouthpiece and their simplicity makes them very reliable. They just work and are quick to put on…adjusting your mouthpiece on the fly is no issue. I always have one in the case. The MKIII offers something more robust than the Dark or Light Rovners. It’s sturdier and feels like it has a firmer grip on the reed. It does…there are two extra flaps of material stuck to the inside of the ligature that sit against the reed, with a narrow strip of exposed fabric between them. This allows for a firmer pressure on the reed stock than the Dark or light. It needs to ‘break in’ a bit because it starts off very rigid and you’ll need to position it on the mouthpiece carefully a few times before it settles. This doesn’t take long and is worth the effort!I own an embarrassing number of ligatures and I always come back to the rovner fabric range, the MKIII being my preference. You can’t go wrong…highly recommended.

This ligature is really good. I started to learn the saxophone in high school and have been playing for about 8 years now. But, in college, I took a 2 year break where I did not pick up my horn to focus on studies. After the 2 years, I decided to try to relearn the sax. Back in highschool, I was playing with a generic metal ligature and mouthpiece so I tried to upgrade. I bought a different $10 cheap, leather ligature off of Amazon and a Meyer sax mouthpiece. The mouthpiece was an improvement but I still had a lot of trouble playing the notes and getting a good sound. At the time, I thought it was because I had lost my playing abilities and blamed it entirely on myself. But, when the cheap ligature broke, I decided to buy a good one. I received this Rovner ligature a few days ago and I immediately noticed the change. Not only do I sound 10x better, but it is easier to get the notes out. I have always had problems with the lower register and I believe it was because of my low-quality mouthpiece and ligature. I realize now just how big of a difference it makes to have a good ligature to complement a good mouthpiece. Now, I just need to upgrade my cheap saxophone.
