I had purchased a power ring for my Berg Larsen stainless slim m.p. Just wasn't comfortable handling it during the tuning process. The Rovner P-2M fits solidly for m.p. manipulation, looks beautiful, and effects the reed perfectly!

I bought this for my Berg Larsen Tenor MP. It fit great! (It did not fit my older one very well.) So this review is related to using it on a Berg metal. It's well made and different for a Rovner because it attaches with the tigthening screw facing you (not on the rear like all the other Rovners I've used). The lig doesn't tighten down both sides equally - on mine it tends to favor the right side. The problem is then the left is almost off the reed. If you try to fix it with your hands (without untightening) the whole reed moves and now you're back to square one. So, it works on probably most metal Bergs. And when you dial it in, it can sound fantastic, but frankly, I've gone back to an older Rovner that was a third of the cost and even though it doesn't have the zing of this one, it stays on and is much easier to adjust which means I spend more time making music and less time thinking about how cool this looks!

I did buy two one for my metal mouthpiece and one for my plastic (Yamaha) mouthpiece(different sizes check Rovner website for the corresponding size). I always though that the ligature debate was somewhat overstated but I now must confess that the right ligature makes a great positive difference on the sound. I have blind tested this comparing the Rovner with my current ligatures and everybody is in agreement on the improvement (Depth and smoothness) (Playing on the Yanagisawa 901) of the sound. I will highly recommend that this ligature be on your short list. I must also add that the construction appears to be solid but I cannot attest to the longevity but will report back after a year.

This fits my metal Berg Larsen perfectly as described on the box. I went to the Rovner site to determine the correct size before ordering online. I'm impressed by the finish and feel of the ligature. I'm not sure if ligatures effect your sound so much as the feel and control of the reed and I like how the Berg feels with this rig, I can play more reeds than using the standard ligature. I was using a Saxxas ligature that allowed the same degree of responsiveness but it was hard to adjust the mouthpiece on the cork without it coming loose and moving around. The Rovner feels strong and stable.

Does not fit easily to my Tenor Mouthpiece. Had to reverse the screw and fit in alternative position. I did not realise thisligature was designed for both Alto and Tenor. Not a good idea - though it may work on the Alto.
