There are lots of great patterns, but the one I bought it for isn't actually in the book even though it's pictured on it. It's still a nice pattern book.

This book contains some of the most exquisite and elegant patterns I have ever seen. Some of them may be a bit old fashioned, but an experienced, creative knitter will find ways to update the pattern to a more modern look. Pay no attention to the reviewer that gave the book a very bad review because a leaf "coat" pattern was not included. The photo on the cover is of a laurel leaf sweater, and the pattern for this beautiful sweater is included in the book. The patterns in this book are beyond my skills, but perhaps I will find an experienced knitter whom I can hire to make one of these beauties for me and I look forward to pulling this book out many times just to look at the elegant styles!

The best of the most beautiful knitting patterns. The garments are so classical, they will never go out of fashion. The book seems new: not a mark on it.

Beautiful book with plenty but not all patterns in. Wish they'd published them all! Hours and hours of creative pleasure in here, such beautiful items. Well worth it.

Too many stories and words; not enough patterns. Returned it.

I just love this book. Rowan patterns are always terrific; stylish, creative and challenging. What makes this more than just a book of patterns, is the history that is included. Rowan looks back through the last 3 decades and includes patterns from each. Many of these would be just as stylish today, but Rowan also shows how they can be updated for today's fashions. It's a wonderful book. I'm so glad I bought it and plan to make several of the patterns shown.

This is a delightful knitting book, and historical as well. It goes through the Rowan magazines, back through the 1980's and up to the present, and selects the best patterns to include in this book. As is typical for Rowan, the photography is stunning. They also have at hand master designers such as Sasha Kagan, Kim Hargreaves and Kaffe Fassett.I especially liked the Fisherman Sweater, the Anice Shawl, and the Veronica Sweater. There are other patterns I'd also like to knit. Regardless of what I knit, however, this book is a visual feast for the eyes. Any knitter will enjoy looking at the beautiful historical photographs and lovely colorful knit projects through the years. Rowan photography is always stunning and this is a very beautiful knitting book.
