Way smaller than I anticipated. Comes in a ziploc sized sandwich bag no larger than a 5x7 photo for comparison. I know it said one pound and I don’t doubt that it was true. It’s just not as much sand as I expected. the sand is pretty though.. Great for a small craft project. It reminds me of something you might grab for yourself as a souvenir from vacation.The sand I received is way prettier than the sand from our local beach (Tybee beach) It appears to have granular crushed up particles of sea shells mixed in with lighter beige sand.I was planning on using it around my plants so it didn’t go far. Obviously it wasn’t conducive for that and that’s on me because they stated it was for use in crafts.

This is a good quality coarse sand. I use sand for succulents and sift from a giant bag, typically. That is a difficult process, so if you expect consistency in size, this delivers just that. I did give it a good rinse, but sand rubbing on sand tends to get a bit of dust. Typically, that won't be a big issue, but using this for desert cactus mix, less dust is better. The sand is also attractive and has a nice variety of neutral colors with just a bit of reddish brown and a few scattered black bits here and there.The sand worked great in a couple of little plants I'm growing from cuttings, allowing water to quickly drain through so the roots don't rot. I would recommend this sand for that purpose, but only for small plants as the bag is obviously small. Because cost changes, I won't comment on that, but I think depending on your needs, this sand can save a lot of trouble of sifting.

This is going to be a very small bag of sand, so plan for it in case you need a lot. I did not have an exact project yet to use this for and just grabbed it as it was through my Vine program and I can always use it, and it was a little shocking seeing how small it is. There is still quite a lot in the bag, but I can see a lot of people needing a lot more than they expected when ordering. It is not really sand, but more tiny gravel. Someone else said in their review it is not dusty, and it really is not, but my bag does have a section of very tiny broken pieces that are almost sand that probably will appear a little dusty if using in an aquarium, so I would definitely plan on letting it settle or wash it off beforehand. I might use it in a 1-gallon tank I plan to set up soon, and that is about the largest size tank it would cover the bottom of. Using a thin layer on the top of soil for houseplants, it will probably last through quite a few if the pots are small. Larger pots would need more bags. If using this for small crafts, this should last for a while. It would depend on what you had planned for this as to whether it is a good value or not.
