My boyfriend is a HUGE Trekkie and in my attempt to give him the best nerd gifts I can find...I stumbled upon the phaser. We added batteries and it quickly became one his favourite items. He just giggles and sets his phaser at anything and anyone. I'm glad to see him laughing and having fun. Worth every penny!

The phaser is size and look are very good, I just wish it was a little heavier it’s light weight plastic and if you were to drop it feels like it would break. Other wise I’m happy with it…

As other reviewers have stated, this is NOT what you want if you want an accurate replica of this prop. It's a toy. The materials are cheap, the quality control on the paint job is spotty (mine was okay), it's not a great sculpt, the details of the markings are inaccurate, and it is slightly undersized. To be clear, it does NOT light up, but it does make noise. It has an annoying orange tip for no reason whatsoever - does this REALLY look like a real-life weapon? Seriously?? Someone's going to mistake this for a gun?? Maybe Harry Potter wands should have orange tips, too, then. I use it for cons where I won't care if I drop and break it. It is recognizable for what it is supposed to be. My first one broke after light use - the fire button broke and then it would not stop firing - and it was so cheap I didn't really mind buying another one.

As a cosplayer and a geek of all trades I am a big Star Trek fan. No Star Trek costume is complete without a phaser or a Tricorder. This one is a bit cheaper but it is still a very fun product. I am a Mr. Frugal when it comes to my stuff. I do splurge on a few things but when I travel at warp speed to the nearest comic convention, or if I am dressing up for Halloween or if I am doing some other function where a costume is needed. If I feel like fighting Borg or Klingons or the scum of the Trek verse I gear up with my trusty Phaser which is this one. This is one of the coolest products I own.

I've always wanted my own Star Trek: TNG phaser, and I still want one after buying this toy.Pros:It looks fairly accurate from a distanceExcept for the orange "safety cap" (because you don't want people to mistake this for a REAL phaser!), it has a good-looking black and silver paint scheme (rather than that silly blue-and-white-toy color scheme that Ruby phaser props have). It makes three different phaser sounds: "short pulse", "long pulse", and "three-round-burst".Cons:Very lightweight, since it's mostly hollow plastic. I might put some weights into mine to give it more heft. The phaser body seems blockier and wider than the the screen props appear to be. This is probably simply to make room for the batteries. The handle is so large and has such square corners that it is uncomfortable to hold, even with adult-sized hands. It's like holding a one-by-one. Children might find it difficult to hold. Somebody should talk to Starfleet about improving the ergonomics. But it's a cheap toy, so what do you expect?

Arrived fast! Thank you from a huge Star Trek fan. This is a nice, simple, yet well detailed replica from Star Trek TNG TV show. And while I thought it was just a static replica, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has sounds (AAA not included) even though it does not light up. The price was perfect and I definitely recommend ordering from this company. I would happily do so again.

Being a Trek-lover I bought 3 of these for Halloween props. They arrived promptly and in wonderful condition. Each phaser is lightweight though well made so they are easy to carry around and "play"with. They do make sounds. There is a small speaker locate on the bottom of the toy that supplies fun sound-effects featured on The Next Generation, which was fun for me. The Phasers do require AAA batteries that are not included and must be inserted into the bottom toy. The one negative about this item is the tiny screw that must be removed in order to place and change batteries. So be sure that you have a 2.0 m/m or 2.4 m/m screw driver on hand. I have a precision screwdriver set, so this wasn't too big of a deal other than how tight the screw was. They are a wonderful complement for any Cosplayer's outfit, Halloween costume, or simply a nice little collectible for Trek fans! I have mine proudly displayed next to my other Star Trek collectibles and recommend you get one if you are interested before they are gone for good.

Right-o, lets get started.-Pros:-Very affordable-Clean, crisp, and dare I say, perfect sounds effects!-Durable plastic-Easy to get to the batteries-Very good paint job! It looks exactly how it should.Cons:-It does not light up (I thought it did for some reason)-It has 4 preset sound effects. Each one plays in a series. The 1st press "fires" a low power "beam". The 2nd fires a medium level beam, the 3rd fires about a 2-3~ second long, high level Phaser beam, and the 4th sound plays all 3 previous sounds right after the other. This is a con because I thought there would be "separate" sounds; such as when you click it, it fires the short burst, and if you hold it down, it fires a constant beam. It however, does not. It's all about the timing.-It's a bit bulkier than the "real" prop. (Which makes it not "fit like a glove" in your hand. But it is manageable)All in all though, it is definitely worth it in my opinion! Honestly, I got this for the sole reason to take it apart and make it as real as the one used in the show. I was afraid that I would have to replace the speaker because some said that the sounds are quiet. I havent had a problem with it being quiet yet. In fact, the sounds are quite loud! If you attempt to modify it, be careful! It "can" break if you are not careful, but otherwise, the plastic is VERY strong.
