The straight cylindrical body of these latches, the part that contains the spring, is too long. When these are latched down they exert practically no pull on the hood. The riveted on t-handles are kind of cheaply made too. In this case you do indeed get what you pay for. Go with the Kentrol latches, they are more expensive, but they are far superior.

All other sets were pairs, this arrived as a single. I will dig deeper next time, but not pleased it was not more clear.
