I think my grandfather would have lived longer had he had one of these. The man loved fishing, but he really didn't want to pay for any gadgetry to spool up his reels. I plan on living a bit longer than he did and am glad to have this. It makes spooling up the reel a breeze and eliminates the tangle. I love this thing.

Although a little pricey for a plastic tool, I have to admit that this thing is pretty handy. I usually have to poke a pen or pencil through the middle of a spool of line, then put the pen/pencil between the undersides of my knees to put on new line when solo. With this you can attach it to your pole, put a large or small spool of line on the device, and then just reel the new line on. You can apply more or less tension, as desired. They give you a pretty decent pair of scissors with it (unnecessary, and I'd have preferred a lower price for the device and no scissors, but they are pretty good ones.) Handy little tool to make a sometimes frustrating chore a lot easier.

The RUNCL Fishing Line Winder works quite well on my spinning reels. Unfortunately I only have spinning reels so I haven't had the chance to try it on anything else, however I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well on those.It's quite easy to use and the instructions included are very clear. It will fit 150yd and 300yd just fine, however I couldn't get it to fit my thicker 700yd spool. Getting it set up on the rod was quite simple and it is stable enough on regular rods. It didn't work very well on my ice fishing rods as it's a little too heavy and bounces up and down.Adjusting the tension is as easy as turning the knob, it helps get the line on nice and tight. Very happy that you can unwind line as well because I had another reel that I had spooled by hand and I needed to take all of the line off and redo it. It was quite easy and only took a minute or so to unreel. The scissors were a nice bonus and do a great job at cutting mono, fluoro, and braided line.Overall i'm quite happy with this line winder. It does everything it claims to do and it turns smoothly. I do think it is slightly overpriced, just due to the fact that i've seen other line winders that included a line counter for roughly the same price, however I can't tell you if those products work as well as this one does. They also don't come with scissors.

This was easy to use. It came with instructions but my husband didn’t need to read the instructions to put this together and use it. It makes winding the fishing line easier and more efficient. It came with scissors to cut the line.

Last summer I remember sitting at our trailer fumbling with a spool of fishing line trying to re-line my son's rod and reel, then having to tie one end to a picnic table and walk halfway across the campground unwinding the line so that I could reel it back in with the right amount of tension on it. I got this recently and replaced a line on my fishing pole in my living room in front of the fire and TV this winter and it was so much easier! Wish I'd gotten this sooner. Set up was quite easy and I was able to put the new line on with the right tension right away. I'll definitely be using this again, it'll be part of the gear for our weeklong fishing trip this summer and I recommend it for anyone who restrings their reels, even if infrequently!

I have tried this type of line spoolers that attach to your rod. I have always found they don't hold the rod tight and end up on the bottom of the rod. This one holds in place very well. It's made from a hard plastic and may not hold up if dropped. The biggest issue is the drag, it never seemed to work. No matter whether I loosen it or tighten it, It won't slow it down from feel spooling. It works ok but i wish the tension would work.
