I was so excited to find these classic children's stories in Russian! We homeschool and try to put a big emphasis on geography and learning about other cultures and languages. These were such a perfect way to give my children more of an introduction to the Russian language. The books are also very colorful and the illustrations intriguing.

Fun set of Russian Folk Tales. The books themselves are a tad delicate; the covers are thin. But the colors of the illustrations and the print on them is well done. I got them to help me brush up on my Russian.

The set of fairy tales is a nice collection, but there are some downsides. The covers are super easy to tear, which is disappointing for a book set. Half of the illustrations inside look like they were AI-generated, which makes them feel a little strange and out of place. While the stories are interesting and enjoyable, I find it a bit overpriced for the quality. However, it is still cheaper than other similar sets, so it’s a decent deal overall. The tales are great for children, but I wish the pictures and covers were better.

9 Russian fairy tale books are wonderful! I am learning Russian and this set of 8 page books includes wonderful short stories based on Russian folk tales. So you not only get practice with reading Russian but you also get exposed to traditional Russian folk tales which is culturally enriching. Of course, besides a language learner - these are great books for Russian children to read or for parents to practice reading with their young children.

These are cute children’s storybooks. The covers are thinner than the pages inside, like coated printer paper. The pages are sturdy and will hold up to many readings, but the covers will probably not last.

I ordered these for myself as I'm working on refreshing my college Russian; it's been a few years since I had anything to read in Russian that wasn't online, and these will push me back into remembering my vocabulary quickly. The story choices here are fairly traditional, representing Russian classic fairy tales from the last few hundred years. They're written at what would be around a 2nd or 3rd-grade reading level if they were in English, so not really for absolute beginners, but not too difficult either. The books themselves more resemble small A5-size magazines, but that's fairly traditional for Russian books; the Soviet Union didn't waste resources to make larger books for kids or putting hard covers on non-reference books, and that tradition has stuck around. So as long as you expect that, these aren't bad, though they're definitely different from standard North American childrens' books. They're saddle-stitched with staples, so it would be fairly easy to pull the staples and glue the covers to a piece of cardstock or even book board if you want them to be a little more difficult to damage.Inside, they're beautifully illustrated in a style reminiscent of Studio Ghibli scenery with classic 1930s-50s characters like in The Iron Giant or Rocky and Bullwinkle. Each page has a couple of paragraphs on it, printed in what looks like an Arial typeface, though it's of course using Cyrillic characters. Words are widely spaced to make it easier for younger readers to focus on one at a time, though the lines are fairly close together, perhaps around 1.5 line spacing.Overall, they're just right for what they are, and as long as you remember that Russians expect their kids to be careful with books, you'll be pretty happy with these. They're good for reading to your kids or grandkids, too, or simply for Russian learners to build reading skills and vocabulary in a natural language-learning progression.
