I really love this big air hose and reel. I found installation to be as simple as four lag bolts and the unit fits right on top of bracket, which makes it easy to transport should the need arise. The reel itself is very good looking on the wall and goes well with my Man Cave Garage. It is quite functional and offers very good value for the money. My biggest concern is that the gears, guides and mechanisms are made of strong white plastic; Sometimes those type of gears don't last as long as metal components so I am not sure how much abuse this auto rewind reel can withstand, but so far very good and smooth....

This retractable air hose reel has a few downsides, but is more premium than I expected. The included 3/8” hose is more rubbery than the cheap pvc hoses similar units ship with. This was my main concern, and though I normally use Goodyear hoses, this included hose is acceptable. The leader hose is similar, and much longer than the standard 3’ (it looks to be 6’). This is great for me as my compressor is far away from where I wanted this unit. Retracting power is great so far, and should last a while so long as it’s kept indoors. There are a few downsides, as mentioned. This is very bulky and plastic… it will take a good amount of wall space. Luckily the mount can be installed separately so you don’t have to hold the reel while mounting. The mount has holes 4” apart, so if you planned on mounting this fully to a wood stud, no dice unless you happen to have a 4x4 in your wall. Probably a bad idea to sink the included lags too close to the sides of a stud anyway. I centered one side of the bracket on the wall and sank toggles for the other set and it holds fine in all axises. The giant plastic retaining case might not drain water particularly well. Assuming the coil spring isn’t stainless, this probably shouldn’t be used to in and outdoors area subject to rain.Lastly the swivel mount can only work vertically. I had hoped to mount this horizontally on the ceiling, but without changing the mount this isn’t possible. If none of these downsides affect your intended use, this is a great air hose retractor with a quality hose.

This real was an easy mount to put it up, but you need a rubber mallet or piece of wood to pound that metal pivot bar into the unit. It does not come with ends so plan on getting a male and female connector, but it does come with a tiny roll of sealant tape. Once up I hooked it to the tank, its holding pressure without leaks and the mechanism to pull out the hose and roll it back up works smoothly. This is definitely a good fit for a home shop, and the price is really good. One of the things I hated about my current hose set up was the need to wind it up manually and have to twist it so it did not kink as you wound it up, with this solution that is a thing of the past and I could not be happier. Great solution especially for the price.

I have needed an air hose reel in my shop for ages. Then I saw this one offered to me as an Amazon Vine reviewer. I didn't have too high of expectation based on my history of reviewing Amazon Vine products. Decent quality items seem to be the exception, but this one passes the test in flying colors! Get this: 110 ft hose on a reel. I can go anywhere inside my garage and up and down my driveway! This reach is outstanding! Furthermore, the feed and retract is smooth and trouble free. The hose seems to be a high quality hose that won't rot it a year. The mounting hardware was simple and straightforward and the reel mounts on a single swiveling post making the feed easier in a wide radius. Let me repeat, Enthusiastic Five Stars!

You're gonna like this! It has a built-in spring powered rewind function with a level wind like a fishing reel. the hose lays up smoothly and evenly, back and forth across the reel - no tangles. The instructions caution that you must walk the hose back so it winds in smoothly and at reasonable speed to prevent damage. The reel mounts on a wall bracket that has a vertical pivot pin. This allows the reel to be positioned to either side through an arc of about 170 degrees. Due to the design of the level wind, with a guide roller above and below the hose, but none on either side, the hose must be extended and retracted fairly closely aligned with the axis of the machine, it will naturally line up with the hose so long as it's within that 170-degree arc.The instructions recommend: "turn off air before retracting hose". I have a 90-degree ball valve at the compressor outlet, but it still entails an extra trip back and forth if you don't want to have the hose drag across the floor or ground - a bit of a bother in a busy shop, but the convenience more than makes up for it!The listing AI had a question about mounting this on a ceiling. One could do that with a sturdy "L" bracket. However, I would do so only if the hose would still run on the level wind rollers rather than rubbing directly on the plastic case. This might require angling the bracket so the hose port was pointing downward at an appropriate angle. This could be mounted on the ceiling with the included bracket if one wanted it pointing straight down. The existing pivot pin to the case mount would have to be modified to keep the unit from sliding off the mount pivot pin.
