It wasn’t an easy fit, but it does work. Lifespan TBD.NotesKeep old snap rings center bolt and shims.Used a small punch and hammer to tap at two points behind the pulley to walk off the old pulley. Once I did this it was easy. Not enough clearance for my puller. The magnet ring steel was slightly thicker where it meets the compressor body. I had to squeeze the snap right closed to get it in the grove. Make sure you put the wire retainer in and fit the anti-rotation stud in the hole pocket before snapping it in place. The new pulley bearing is slightly thicker than the OEM thus you have to the force the snap rings closed to ensure positive retention. Also the new pulley had an extra V groove. I left the extra open towards the front of the car.I was able to shim the end clutch plate to spec, but the supplied center bolt was too long and bottomed out just barely. You can grind it or just use the old bolt.Anyone who is handy and can be a little creative in how to hold things should be able to figure this out but plan some extra time. Also, use care not to damage the bearing when installing the new pulley.

2016 Forester. I am the original and only driver. The air condition stopped running at 85K.A full diagnosis showed the clutch had worn out, although the testing confirmed the compressor was still functional. Subaru no longer sells separate clutches and I didn't want to spend over 1K to get a new compressor. There are off-market clutches, many of which are priced below $50. I decided to go for the most expensive, hoping to get the best quality. As the pictures showed, this clutch fitted well. It took a while to take away the old one. But after that, the installation was not difficult at all. No fancy tools are needed. My A/C was back, unfortunately only temporarily. During my test run on a 90-degree day, the A/C was down after about 25 25-minute drive. It turned out the A/C fuse got blown up. That fuse was the original one coming with my car. I drove to AutoZonethe and got a pack of replacements. The second A/C fuse blew up within one minute. So I disconnected the clutch power and inserted another fuse. I turned the A/C on for a while and the fuse was safe once the power to clutch was shut down. I drove another hour with the A/C on at the fan's maximal capacity. All good. Once I reconnected the clutch power, the A/C fuse blew up within seconds. With all the tests and three blew-up A/C fuses, I had to conclude that the clutch coil had a short circuit during my test run. However, I can't take it off yet. The belt needed physical support from a clutch, good or dysfunctional. In the end, I found a second-hand clutch disassembled from a replaced manufactured compressor (I bet there are quite a few out there). The A/C was finally back.It has been a week now since I used that second-hand clutch. Residents in the US Northeast have experienced record-high temperatures during the past week. The A/C on my Subaru worked well, even for long drives during those 100-degree days.If you need a replacement clutch for an old one that has been on your Subaru for years, please be aware that, once the old one is taken away, it will get damaged and no longer fit to support the belt. And the quality of my purchase is evidently questionable. If the one you get turns out not to pass the test run either, you will need to install another clutch to support the belt right after getting the junk out.I did contact Amazon, reporting the defective item and asking for a replacement of my order. I got turned down. I was told that according to the rules, I had to ship the defective clutch back first before anything else could happen.I got lucky for finding another clutch before the return deadline. You should think twice before buying this brand.

Installed this on our subaru with a friend in just under an hour. Clutch seems well built and high quality. Once we got the clutch spacing right, it worked perfectly and has been running great since. Make sure to look up the clutch spacing for your model Subaru when installing these, they're all a bit different. Will update my review if anything changes, but so far so good!

Ninety minute or less repair. Downside the new snap rings are to thick and the bolt to long. Using the old hardware it fits and works has it should, shimmed at 0.3mm. Much better quality than the one purchased from the bay two years ago.

Came nicely packaged, all parts shown with new bolt, snap rings and shims, seems like good quality, did not come with installation instructions so make sure to research before you install this part. Nothing came defective, fits perfectly on 2016 Subaru forester, A/C clutch engages every time and AC is ice cold now.

It doesn't fit! The width of the bearing is 1-1.5 mm too wide, and there's no access to the snap ring groove when the bearing is fully seated, and the shims are too small to fit over the compressor shaft. What am I supposed to do?? I can't drive the car because there's no way to secure the bearing from working itself loose from the compressor shaft...because that's the job of the snap-ring. Please advise!!! This part is now considered a used part (Not sure I can return it), but I still CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR (the drive belt still has to have something to ride on). HELP?

Went on pretty easy but spent another hour customizing the shims as the diameter was too small
