This is only good for working on very small pieces of wood (maybe toys). It takes off a layer about the thickness of a layer of paint. I threw mine in the trash.

If you like to sharpen tools frequently this is the spokeshave for you. I made 10-12 strokes on some common red maple and the factory sharpened blade was dull. I lightly sharpened with a diamond hone and tried again. Blade does not seem to hold its sharpness well. Cast iron parts and adjustments work well. Paint on sole wore off immediately.

It is good hard steel so it took a while to sharpen properly. Beyond that, what can I say? It works well... get one.
