The main vertical line is flexible resulting in the horizontal arm sagging and tangling. It does not keep the hook extended. No better than tying your leader to your line.

I use these all the time in the Gulf Coast . Many time's I have pulled in 2 fish at once and are good for red fish...now I'm fishing in east coast and not having any problems catching strippers

Haven't had a chance to fish with them yet, but these babies are STRONG and very well made. Heavy duty parts everywhere. I had to use pliers on the hook holders to open and close them. That is fine with me, I have no doubt they can stand up to the large fish we catch in the ocean around here.
