Main Issue: This dock severely limits bluetooth range.I love the formfactor and basically everything about this dock, but beware, if you like to walk around your house while listening to a podcast or video, this dock limits how far you can go without it cutting out or disconnecting from your headphones all together.

In a nutshell, this is a form fitting hub that trades one of the Mac Mini’s rear 40 Gbps Thunderbolt ports for a 10 Gbps M.2 MVMe SSD slot, two 10 Gbps USB-A ports, an old school 640 Kbps USB-A port and a UHS-II speed SD card reader. To me, this is a good, not great, trade off. USB-A only serves legacy devices at this point, and personally I’ll never have need again for two 10 Gbps USB-A ports, especially when only one can be used self-powered at at time. On the other hand, I’ll take faster SSD speeds every day of the week, so a 20 Gbps and two 640 Kbps USB lots would have made me happier. The case itself is well built featuring an aluminum shell that matches the Mini. The top and bottom of the case, however, are plastic. That does make me a tad nervous with the SSD sitting at the bottom. However, the top of the SSD slot does have some built-in heat dissipation. The M4 Mini sits on top of it perfectly, with a small gap to promote airflow. The top left corner is smartly cut out to give easy access to the power button. I don’t turn off my Macs often, but crashes do happen, as do vacations, so this is a nice solution to Apple’s hairbrained placement of the power button.Four rubber bumpers on the top of the hub is all that secures it to the Mini. It works well. The USB-C connector is built-in, which I would be neutral on except that this design would be better if it was a right angle to hug the Mini rather than stick out as it does.Bottomline, this is a good design that adds a lot of missing capabilities to the M4 Mac Mine. It could have been better, but if wishes were horses beggars would ride, right? Satechi is a well-known peripheral brand and I’d rather have one of their products with fewer features than a full featured version from a no-name with unknown quality control. Like the hub itself, its price is neither terrible nor outstanding, but something I can live with for what it does.

I have several products from Satechi so getting another item from the same brand was easy. The build quality is excellent and the design goes well with the Mac Mini. It has good functionality with the external ports and the biggest advantage for me is the built-in slot for NVME SSD. I was previously using an external NVME SSD enclosure which added clutter to my desktop but this solved the problem. I did not notice any additional heat and it sits cool under my Mac Mini. Good value for money as it has enough ports, have NVME SSD slot and also the sleek design makes it look like a part of Mac Mini.

I've used Satechi products before, and couldn't help grabbing one of these for an M4 Mac Mini. I have not experienced the same issues as many have supposed, with wifi and/or Bluetooth, so that was a great start. Let's be real: a lot of us still have USB-A peripherals, and it's fantastic to see that those devices were considered here. For a Mac that no longer offers rectangular USB ports, this is a no-brainer. The M4 Mini already provides a multitude of USB-C ports, so you're all set there and this dock only uses one port. Were you suddenly in need of another USB-C port, you could just daisy chain. All that said, I should mention that setup was super easy and the USB ports are fast. I didn't measure them directly with any sort of specialized program, but the 10Gbps ports seem to be very fast with a USB-3 external drive (7200rpm large cache HDD). I wasn't able to test the NVMe functionality, but since it connects directly to the USB-C part of the dock, I'm sure you'd be able to use most of if not all the speed an NVMe offers.Design-wise, this fits the M4 Mac Mini aesthetic quite well, and almost looks like Apple built it. Almost forgot to mention, the power button is very easily accessible due to a little cutout on the back. Nice touch! Absolute must-buy for the M4 Mac Mini user. I had one of these on an M2 Mac Mini for years, and it's still going strong. I'd expect the same from this product.

Works fine but it’s a very expensive USB-hub in one aspect. The SD card reader works well although it being right below the USB-C ports on the mini make it not so accessible. Also the fit between the mini and the dock isn’t great so it can get out of whack easily which is an annoyance.

I’ve had this hub for 1 week now. It works great. I installed a 4TB m.2 Samsung drive without issue. My Mac found and configured everything just fine. Front ports work. I haven’t noticed any wifi and heating issues so far. It also looks and feels like an apple accessory.
