This is my second purchase of Sawgrass sg500 printer, my first one worked well until their software update, disguised as windows security update but actually to disable your ability to print a usable print if you have used any 3rd party inks. I had used 3rd party inks successfully for almost year till this update. Reluctuntly I decided to order another sawgrass printer because they provide best color quality prints. Since their software updates I cannot get this new printer to print anything from their Sawgrass Print Utility, I am using windows 11 operating system, I have spent several days researching and tried all things I came across so far nothing has worked. Their online chat bot is usless. Now I find out to return printer I have to pay the return shipping and a 25% restocking fee, that alone will be $150 plus shipping charges will probably run $35-50 , that's absolutely outrageous. Sawgrass had a good thing with their Creative Studio software which they decided to discontine. The online firums are full of complaints about their update to force you to use their overpriced ink. Many people are trying to gather support for class action lawsuit. They do not tell you up front that you can only use their ink, which is $77 per cartridge compared to many other 3rd party inks being $15

I decided to switch from a Epson converted printer into this Sawgrass. Set up was relatively easy. Had a few issues with connection but their support is top notch! Did a chat and they walked me through it. You can also schedule an appointment online to have a person walk you through the set up. I was SUPER SHOCKED tho with the ink situation. When you set up the printer and insert the ink it takes 7 minutes I guess to get the ink into the lines, well it literally used up ALL the ink and my machine immediately said low ink. When I went to buy more I was SO SHOOK at how much the ink cost. It was totally my bad for not looking into the ink prices before I bought it but also did not expect to have to buy four more cartridges IMMEDIATELY after putting new ones in. I do love that there is less guess work with the colors. There print manager is pretty easy to print from, its just very basic. I haven't had it long enough to know how long I can go on the low ink alert or how long new cartridges last. Im hoping LONG based off of how freaking ridiculous the price is for replacements!UPDATE: I have printed over 120 full pages with the low ink warning and still going strong. BEAUTIFUL PRINTS! CHANGED my review to 5 stars! The ease of printing with the Sawgrass VS the epson converted is CRAZY amazing! LOVE LOVE LOVE My printer!

I received my package one week ago today and the printer was great, however when I set it up, I immediately received an error that my Cyan, Yellow and Black ink are low. When I checked it, it shows the “trash” was at 75% full and that these have been used. I contacted the seller, they advised they would send new cartridges, but I am still waiting one week later with no shipping information. Don’t buy the starter kit, better off ordering the machine through a reputable supplier and buying the full ink cartridges.

sawgrass 500. works after hour n a half set up. then said from the get go low ink???? first print a lot of banding. will reprint tomorrow n hoefully i will be happy about the purchase

I’m updating this review less than 2 years after purchasing the Sawgrass SG500, and I regret to say this printer has not met my expectations. Initially, the printer worked fine, but after only a few uses, the starter pack of ink ran out surprisingly fast. I replaced the cartridges, which cost a significant amount, and immediately noticed banding in my prints so I stopped using it although I left it turned on.Things worsened after I went overseas for a few months.. When I returned things were fine, but 4 moths later, I went to use it and found that the $300 worth of new ink I had installed was already low despite hardly using it. I reached out to Sawgrass support, and while they did send me a new black ink cartridge, the printer won't even run a nozzle check due to the "low ink" warning. My attempts to get further assistance from their help desk have been ignored, leaving me stuck even though this printer should still be under warranty. And yes, I was using SAWGRASS Ink.Overall, I can't recommend this printer—it’s costly to maintain and unreliable, with disappointing support.________I am still learning but so far I am pretty happy with my printer and creative studio is relatively easy to learn. Of course, I watched a ton of tutorial videos too!! I do wish it would print larger than 8.5X11 though and regret not spending the extra money for that feature. As they say, go big or go home.
