Schluter Rectangular Shelf for Tiled Walls

Schluter-SHELF-W is a wall storage system available in brushed stainless steel or aluminum in a range of textured color-coated finishes including stone grey, pewter, cream, ivory, greige, bronze, dark anthracite, matte black, and matte white. The shelves are 5/32″ (4 mm) -thick and feature designs coordinating with the KERDI-DRAIN and KERDI-LINE drain grates. They can be used in showers and other tiled wall applications (e.g., kitchens and baths). SHELF-W is a rectangular shelf with two trapezoid-perforated anchoring legs for installation on walls in conjunction with the tile.

How to Install Your Shelf

Surface - installation in conjunction with tile

1. If the grout joint is less than 5/32″ (4 mm) –thick the tiles must be notched to fit the SHELF-W. Placing the notch in the tiles below the SHELF-W will result in a visually appealing, even line above.

2. Install the tile up to the joint where the SHELF-W will be placed and slide the bottom anchoring leg behind the tile. Provide temporary support as required.

3. Install the remainder of the tile and grout the application.

4. After the grout has set, seal the joint between the SHELF-W and the wall tile on the top and bottom surfaces with sealant that is suitable for the application (e.g., silicone.)

5. Allow the sealant to cure prior to using the SHELF-W.

  • No, applications using SHELF-W do not require a minimum tile format. However, do take care to avoid a “bump” in the tile covering over the anchoring legs when using mosaics.

  • In showers and bathtub surrounds we recommend that the sealant be designated as suitable and recommended for use in wet areas by the manufacturer. In these applications 100% silicone is typically the best option.

This was easy to install but I had to make a few modifications during installation to help my tile stay level with the surround tile. Sturdy shelf after put in and allowed to set.

Well made and looks nice. I think it could be improved with the edges turned up a little to maybe catch things from falling off the side. Also, I wish it were maybe 4-5 inches wider with a couple hooks to hold a washcloth.

This is a beautiful bath shelf to install between tiles during your install. It seems very sturdy but it is a mm thicker than the box suggests. Or maybe just us...Make sure you pick the right spacing for your tiles so you don't have to cut around the shelf.

Update update, rusted again with in a month.Update. Territory Manager (nice man) came to my house. Left, talked to his sources, came back and cleaned, polished, and waxed the shelves. They look new. I will update if it works or not.DO NOT BUY. RUSTED IN 1 MONTHAmazon really needs a zero rating option. I bought 2, both had rust in 1 month, literally!! Spent extra $$$ on name brand stainless steel shelves to never have to worry about rust in the shower again! Now they are tiled in place! This is not going to be a cheap or easy fix!!

Ordered these to install in the niche I created in my shower. Everyone that had seen my shower made a comment on these shelves. They are unique, beautiful and most important easy to clean and so far have not rusted/corroded. It is well worth the money spent as it is easy to install and will last a long time. Great product.

This is well made. It may seem expensive but it will be in your shower forever so it needs to be rugged. It may try to tilt down when installing on small tiles, just use a small screw and countersink into a stud to secure the top bracket before installation. Be sure to tape the shelf so you don't have to pick grout of the holes.
