I've grown dissatisfied using jeweler's green rouge for knife stropping: the chrome oxide abrasive breaks down immediately, and with repeated application the wax base gums up a suede leather strop. I ordered this diamond paste kit to improve my stropping capabilities. The 3000 grit paste is well suited for EDC knife stropping, and I'll reserve the 5000 grit paste for especially fine stropping. The 14000 grit paste is suitable for straight razor stropping; anybody who has shaved several times with a straight razor knows that smooth leather stropping does not maintain a straight razor's edge. And of course, these three pastes also permit polishing jewelry and glass objects.Diamond paste stropping required resurfacing my (not included) suede leather strop; I used 100 grit sandpaper to remove the wax-caked suede surface layer. I then twisted off the applicator's screw cap and applied about one-tenth of the 3000 grit paste to the resurfaced suede strop (see attached photo 1). The paste has a slight oily odor that IMO is not unpleasant. I used the knife blade like a spatula to spread the diamond paste over the suede strop before stropping the knife. Stropping a knife using this oil-based paste is very smooth (compared to stropping using wax-based jeweler's rouge). Attached photo 2 shows the strop and knife after stropping. Steel erosion during stropping darkens the diamond paste but the diamond paste does not break down, so a paste refresh is not necessary for each stropping new session and paste refreshes consume less additional paste. Residual paste wipes off the knife blade with cloth or a paper towel, and the stropped knife blade is noticeably sharp.Having three different diamond paste grades complicates stropping: mixing pastes would degrade the finer grits. My solution is having a (not included) second leather strop for the 5000 and 14000 grit pastes; I apply the 5000 grit paste to the second strop's suede side and apply the 14000 grit to the second strop's smooth side. That provides stropping versatility, and diamond paste is a marked improvement over jeweler's green rouge at an affordable cost.

When my plain gold band started showing its age with tiny scratches and a lackluster shine, I decided to try a DIY restoration approach before considering professional help. These progressive diamond polishing pastes turned out to be exactly what I needed!The secret to their effectiveness is the sequential application - starting with the coarser grit to tackle those visible scratches, then methodically working through to the finer grits for that mirror-like finish. Each tube required minimal product (literally half a pea-sized amount) on the matching felt pad from the same manufacturer.I spent about 2-3 minutes working each paste in gentle circular motions, and watched in amazement as my plain gold band transformed with each step. The final result was nothing short of spectacular - a brilliant shine that honestly looks better than when I first purchased it.The system is remarkably user-friendly, though it does require patience to work through all the grits properly. But trust me, seeing your treasured gold becoming progressively more brilliant with each stage makes the process surprisingly satisfying. For the price of a single professional cleaning, I now have everything needed for years of jewelry maintenance at home!

14,000 grit took a long time to dry on my strop. Stayed pasty for a week, and I’m still not sure it’s stropping very well.

I purchased this for sharpening/polishing wood carving chisels, wood plane blades & knife blades with metal diamond plates for sharpening. I found when adding it to 1000-2000 grits diamond plates it really helps in getting me a nice, clean, sharp edge on all of my blades & chisels. Decent price for the little amount they give u when comparing to prices of other diamond compounds. Wish I could get a larger amount for same price but inflation has screwed us all. Thanks capitalism, bs.

This was my first diamond paste that I have bought so take my review with that in mind. But I was surprised by how well this stuff works on knives. I like that it is pretty obvious that it works as you can see the grey material traces on the leather strop. What I do like is that a little bit of paste has Ben good for several knives and I don’t think I’ll have to add some anytime soon. I love the idea that this strop will be the same for a long time and letting me use the same finish on my knives.

I am an amateur lapidary and love to play with different polishing strategies and materials. This diamond paste is by far the finest-grained I've ever used, but I was particularly interested in using it with some of my softer stones to work toward that absolutely pristine polish we all strive for.These are decent sized tubes - the same as I get from lapidary dealerships, but in much finer counts. The 50K was the first I played with. I used it on stones that had already been through a 14K paste finish, and I was absolutely impressed at the improvement. I moved up through the other two grits and at each stage I was impressed that a stone I'd already thought was mirror-shined could get shinier! I've had a great experience with these, and will order more when I run out!

This is a great set for getting a super high polish finish on gemstones, acrylic, lucite and more. The syringes make it easy to dispense exactly the amount needed without wasting the product. It works well for high shine on agate. So I think it would do really well for removing scratches on hard plastics.
