Installed on 96gti, this is the second aftermarket one Ive bought and they both do this same thing right out of the box. Randomly after engaging the starter a few times if the ski doesnt wanna start at first its like the mpem goes into a mode where it wont respond to the start button being pressed. If you pull the key off and retry still nothing happens. I found out though if you unplug the battery and back in it starts working like a charm. Now the problem with that is if it decides to do this out on the water unplugging the battery is difficult or impossible if you have no tools. That brings me to my final most important point, if yours does what mine does and wont engage the starter when you click it, instead of undoing the battery cables, simply unplug and replug the stator plug which us very easy to do, and it will begin working again.

Part did not work, almost blew my stater. I bought this product as my multi gauge stopped working. When I got it all connected and the battery connected, I was happy to see my gauges come back to life. When I went to start my machine, the box started smoking. Machine ran for a about 20 seconds. Put my old mpem in and it started right up, but no gauges. Company was good, they gave me a full refund.

Fixed my problem with blowing the fuse when hooking up the battery. This was caused from previous owner trying to jump start the ski and burnt up the MPEM. Ordered this guy and all is good. I didn’t hook up the white with grey striped wire.

Direct fit for 1996 seadoo SP. Before install, jet ski starter wouldn’t spin, no beep when inserting key. Now everything works perfect, I have about 10Hours on this new MPEM now, no issues whatsoever.

My original MPEM is part #278000822. This product says that it replaces that model. I did not get a wiring diagram as it stated I would. It also is not the correct MPEM. My original has one additional cord that this MPEM doesn't have so I have no wiring diagram and an extra cord hanging out there. I am waiting to here back frpom customer support and will update.
