This pole works great and has a good locking mechanism. Its only flaw is it does not float, so i only gave it 4 stars. I took the pole apart and filled the center extension portion of the pole with insulation foam to make it buoyant. I also bonded the handle grip in place when I reassembled it using Loctite 411 CA adhesive I had. This prevents the grip from coming off when you are pulling with the pole. The pole now floats if it falls in the water.

I was surprised at how strong and positive the lock is on this boathook. I also use this as a whisker pole for my self tacking jib and it works great. I've put it under pretty good strain and it holds up well. For the price you can't beat it.

This is a must have for any boater. It is very sturdy and make docking much easier especially dealing with wind and currents. I will always have one of these on my boat from now on.

I have had this on the boat for several months now without any issues!! No rust, stored outside, no issues with the clamp sliding. I looked at similar products at the local boat stored but the prices were outrageous!This has been very handy when docking my 25ft Proline! Saves me from tossing ropes and trying to jump off the boat while trying to steer especially in windy conditions. It is exactly as pictured, what you see is what you get. There were no issues with shipping and I received my product quickly! I am very happy and I am Happy I saved a bit of money as you can never have too many tools/toys for the boat!
