This boat hook was total junk. Doesn't even deserve one star. Nice aluminum pole and hook but after a few uses it became hard to lock and unlock the twist lock mechanism until it completely failed in the first season of use.

Tried it out as soon as I received it. This is a replacement for one that I received from a third party seller that would not extend. It was locked in a closed position. This one works great ! If you are limited in storage space and can work with it's limited size ,this is a perfect choice. It's solidly made. My only concern is will it lock up like the previous one. ?Update: Originally a good review but as I feared, It has locked ( this time in open position). Tried lubrication like I did with the first one, but it won't budge. Based on other reviews and my experience with two of these hooks I'm guessing this is a design problem that the manufacturer needs to address. Reduced to one star now !

I really should have had one of these years ago. This one is just right. It stows easily along the rail of my pontoon, ready for action. The business end is non scratching rubber coated. Pole is sold both when retracted and extended. Weight is okay, not too heavy at all.The tip is held on by 4 small rivets. They seem fine, but if they fail it will be easy to repair with a couple of small screws. Be sure to use marine goo to maintain water seal.

Works great so far. Simplifies docking or rafting to other boats. It's like your arm is suddenly 6 feet longer.

This is great. Sturdy and adjustable. Can adjust to small size to keep it out of the way when you are not using it.
