These drives store a ton of video and have a reputation for being reliable but holy smokes are they loud.I have two in my security DVR and it is not something you want in a living space. They are that loud. They sound like Captain Crunch and friends have taken up resistance in your room.If you use these for your DVR, make sure you put it in a closet or build a sound dampening enclosure for it.

I needed to update the memory of my cameras around the house. This is great, holds 1 month of data. What I don’t like is the noise that makes at night time. Well at least that’s when I hear it. When is quite the noise is awful. 2023 a lot of gadgets are going on quite mold but not this one. It isn’t worth that much money. At least they seller should have it on the description that it makes a lot of noise.

I can confirm that this Seagate Skyhawk AI 16TB HDD works with the UDM Pro. All I did was backup my protect configuration, power down the UDM Pro, swap the hard drive, and power up the UDM Pro. It was instantly recognized. I reimported back my configuration and set my views again and I was done. Easy peasy! My smart detections are very smooth now with this HDD. High recommend!

I bought this from a 3rd party vendor in Canada called Deal Targets and it was dead on arrival with loud rhythmic clicking upon start-up. The drive was factory sealed but in a generic box. I've never bought a "new" hard drive that wasn't packaged in the retail box, very sketchy. It wasn't prime so of course I had to pay for return postage, what a scam.

Being the cheapest 16TB HDD made it an easy choice. Been using 10TB Iron Wolf for two year, needed larger backup HDD.Backed up 10.5TB of data over 1gbps LAN - which took 28 hours.Only used once a month for offsite NAS backup.A lot of small files to write, Skyhawk handled fine. HDD didn't get to warn.Being a surveillance HDD is just a added feature. It's still a HDD, and good for other uses.So far, so good. Good value for money.Will update after one years use.

Used it for my UDM Pro . Its quiet and the storage capacity is fantastic. The UDM Pro had 0 issues discovering, formating and configuring it with no issues.
