BEFORE I bought this: cavitation was my boat's problem: Sometimes it'll plane, sometimes it'll cavitate and scare the poop out of everyone on board (except for me, of course). There was much futzing with the trim angle.THEN I bought this product: it eliminated cavitation. Which is good. But the top speed is 7km/hr less than without this (*when* I could get on plane, of course). So I removed it. My goal now is to DIY build a smaller set - big enough to prevent cavitation, small enough not to add significant drag. So now this product has taken permanent residency on a shelf in my garage.But that's me and MY boat. YOUR boat might be different, and this might be your only solution to getting on plane. And it is cheap enough ($30? can't remember) that the cost is only a tiny fraction of the megabucks-per-hour operational cost of your vessel.

Bolted this to my 40 hp Johnson. The boat gets up on a plane a little faster and I didn't lose anything on my top speed.

These fins are a good deal for the money but, the lock nuts and bolts broke when I snugged them. Did not use a power tool only hand tools. As you can see in the pictures the bolt broke off in the nut. And they are thin to use. So I hade to go spend $10 addition for good stronger hardware.If you buy these I would suggest buying better hardware than what they send.

Installed these on my Johnson 9.9 hp outboard, which I use on my small rigid hull inflatable. Without them, it was a real struggle trying to get the boat up onto a plane, even at maximum throttle. My wife & I had to crowd into the bow to try to get the boat to level onto a plane - it was awkward, and not very safe. When I did get onto a plane, the boat was skittish & hard to control.With these foils installed, the boat comes up onto a plane at 2/3 throttle, with both of us seated comfortably - no gymnastics required. The boat is noticeably faster than before, is far more stable, and corners like it's on rails. Since I don't need full throttle anymore for cruising, fuel mileage should be greatly improved.It's a win-win with these foils.

Just received it and checked for fit on my 25hp Yamaha 4 stroke. Screws are included. I just need to drill the holes and we'll be good to go. Very impressed by the quality and value. No need to spend $50 more.

i never write reviews, but this is probably the greatest purchase i’ve made. i have a 16’ boat with a 70 hp and i was porpoise’ing so bad before i had these. first time out after installing them, i hop immediately up on plane and it handles 100% better. zero porpoise’ing and skates over chop. 10/10 recommend

Much improved “hole shot” on my 2006 Yamaha 75F 4 Stroke. Keeps the bow steadier at mid speed and at high speed my boat handles like a dream. Awesome product and simple to install. KS Note: Less than one year and some hardware has rusted and some has not. Boat stored out of water, but for two weeks in the year. I would like to see them provide actual GOOD SS nuts and bolts. Get your own Hardware. KS

I put these on a 9.9 hp mercury but unfortunately they still didn't give quite enough lift to get my 11 ft zodiac up on plane, did help get it closer. Nothing wrong with the product, I do have it pretty loaded up when I'm in it so I'm sure more HP would fix it. No big loss to the wallet, they are still worth a try for yourself.

I mounted this hydrofoil on a Johnson 88 special and went on perfectly. This engine is mounted on a 1994 Bayliner Capri 1800. This hydrofoil does require some drilling in order to be mounted on the lower unit. Before I mounted this on the engine I was getting 13 second hole shots which is more or less useless when trying to water ski. With the hydrofoil I am down to 8 seconds which is closer to where I want to be. Also, allows a lowered speed needed to hold planing from 22 MPH to 17 MPH.This product is no where near top of the line but for the price it is hard to go wrong. The downside to this hydrofoil is it did reduce my top speed from 34 MPH to 33 MPH.
