Very easy to work with. When it dries up, it dries up good. Comes with plenty to work with. I love that it comes with its own container.

It's my first time working with foam clay, and I'm loving it. I've attached some progress photos of the phoenix sword project I'm working on. After doing some smaller test pieces to figure out how this clay works, I used this clay to make some 3D flames that come off of the sword over the guard. It's not done, but you can see enough to understand this product.Practical Notes:Working Time: Yes, sure, you can work with it for quite a while before it sets - UNLESS you need to join pieces together, in which case you want to work quickly. In my test pieces, I found that the pieces I layered after taking my sweet time to form them did not adhere very well and I could easily pull them apart with my fingers a few days later when they were set. So, I mad the flames you see on this sword in one rush, layering from bottom to top all the way around so that I was always laying the next flame on one that was still wet.Joins: I haven't tried working with water with this clay yet but that's what I would try next. I have not been able to join pieces and smooth them together like I have with the sort of clay you use to make ceramics.Cracking: In my test pieces, the surface of the dried pieces showed cracks, and the thicker the clay was the more likely these cracks were to occur. In the sword, deep cracking appears between some of the flames, but that works for this particular project so it's not a problem. You'll need more skills than I have to work with this clay without it cracking. I think I could figure it out with more practice and trial and error.Painting: As you can see in my images, this clay takes acrylic paint just fine. I didn't seal it first, I just threw the paint right on there. The 2D white that you see on the blade in the 2nd picture is just white acrylic paint, placed there so that the colors would match when I painted the 2D part of the blade and the clay. This mostly worked. In person, the colors on the clay look a bit different than the colors on the 2D part of the blade. I think another coat of paint will solve this. Next time, I would use a base coat on both the clay and the acrylic blade to help make the colors match more, but I don't think a base coat is necessary for projects where you aren't trying to match colors across different material bases.Cutting dried pieces: Just to see if I could, I tried cutting one of my test pieces with scissors. It worked, and revealed foam texture on the inside. Could be interesting for projects that want that kind of texture.

My daughter asked for this clay and I am very impressed with it! She has made her own character and this clay is so soft and lightweight its amazing how she is able to create amazing characters.

Tried to create a simple shoulder pad for my daughter for a Comicon event.. Cracked and split despite being crafted to about 1/3"" thick. Thoroughly useless for costuming.

Perfect for making molds! Very pliable. I don't usually make molds. I'm not sure how detailed a sculpture this clay can make as it is very elastic. I'm a terracotta sculptor. But for the purpose I need it (ornamentation for picture frames and steer skulls) it works well. Feels a little kooky in your hands, kind of like marshmellows
