I'm a 1st time user of this paint but found it easy to mix and spray with my $80 Astro HVLP gun. Make sure you seal any areas where you may have sanded through the underpaint or primer. In my case I was adding the matte black hood to my 69 Mach 1. The previous owner had the hood painted all red. I wet sanded the area I wanted to paint with 400 grit, dried it, sealed the areas where I sanded through, taped off the shape I wanted, wiped down with SEM Prep, tack clothed it and let it rip. The pic shows results that can be had from an amateur in a open garage non paint booth environment. Wear a mask. Isocyanates are no joke.

This paint kit was great - reducer and hardener were included, and the 1qt size is enough for a small or medium job with some left over if touch ups or re-sprays are needed. The paint laid down very easily and the sheen is perfect for what I was looking for - not completely flat, but not glossy at all either- more of a matte. Used it to blackout the front end of my 4Runner and paint all of the faded black plastic pieces and it all looks great.

I usually buy my Paint from the local Autobody Paint Suppliers but no one had this in stock. I was a bit worried about ordering paint from Amazon because I didn't know what condition it would arrive in.Those things being said. It arrived ok and I shot my first panel last night. Paint has a Satin finish once fully dry, which is what I was looking for. You'll need to open up the "material knob" on your gun to get a full wet coat because this paint is High Solids.16 hours to air dry and 24 hours to Tape (air) is a long time. But most Matte Finish Coatings will take awhile to dry by air. Many, like this one are meant to be baked on.Cleaning the Gun afterwards was too bad, not as quick and a Base Coat or clear but nothing out of the ordinary.I'm happy with the purchase and am now waiting to see how the Finish holds up.

I was more than impressed when I laid down the first coat and was happier every time I checked it during the drying process. The paint is SUPER easy to mix if you plan to use the entire quart. Just pour in, stir and go. With the right gun, it laid down GREAT and very easy. Being my first time to actually paint a car, I learned a few things (the hard way, albeit), but even in the midst of my ignorance I was still able to get a finish that was very smooth and trash-free.I painted in three different conditions. I was painting in close to 95* heat, cold damp below 70* night and during a rainy day situations. I would not recommend the hot conditions, paint starts drying too quickly. There are a couple of places where I was overlapping and the paint had either already tacked up or I simply didn't lay down a good enough base coat. But EVEN in these situations, the paint laid down great and I came out with a paint job I was very happy to have. Pictures don't do the paint justice. If you have any experience painting, you should be pretty happy with the finish. The look is satiny and looks really best at night. I've had numerous people ask me about it and make comments like Batman, Blackbird, stealth and that is the look I was going for; the matte finish all of those words allude to.As part of my learning to paint and this paint in particular, it is multi-stage and has a catalyst added. Once this is added to the paint, you have very limited time to get it on the car. I mixed some primer one day that was good at least the next day, if not two days later. This stuff, once you mix it, you have roughly about 12 hours to get it used or it's no good. I found this out the hard way with the last batch I mixed. Ended up having to order another quart to finish the hood and other pieces. The great about this is, the color is consistent, even between the quarts you get. I only wish they made this stuff in larger volumes for my project. Maybe they will start selling it in gallons. Great stuff though!
