Any cheap wine bottle opener of this basic design is better. It would be much lighter and about half the price.1) The cutter tool doesn't work very well for some reason (although you would think this would be a fairly easy mechanical process to effect!).2) There is no logical reason for the metal extension over the corkscrew. Since the screw settles against the body of the tool, there is nothing to protect from. And it gets in the way of opening the bottle.3) The part of the tool that rests against the bottle is too long and doesn't allow the screw to fully enter the cork, forcing one to remove it with the screw in only half-way. Not good.

It's definitely a good quality corkscrew. It's heavy in the hand, feels robust and well-made. The wooden part seems luxurious, it's elegant yet it feels manly in how it's built almost like a hunting knife. It's very satisfying to use, and could almost make a nice conversation piece. The wooden box however seems quite tacky to me. The engraving is awkwardly phrased and I would have preferred something more generic or some kind of image. The fact that it's made of very light, unfinished wood makes it feel quite cheap too, like those little wooden chests you get at the dollar store, meant for painting as a craft project.A regular box might have been classier, or a rectangle box made of better-looking materials, darker woods with a varnished finish perhaps. When I ordered this, it was priced at almost 150$, which was way too much I thought. Now that it's at 70$ It's still a luxury item but I do think it would make a nice gift. Depending on who you give it to, the box might actually be a funny element. Not that it's laughable, it's not THAT bad, but it's a strange choice for such a classy item.

The Semecca Wine Opener is a beautifully designed waiter's corkscrew that combines elegance and functionality, making it an ideal gift for wine enthusiasts. Its standout qualities include a stunning rosewood handle that not only feels luxurious but also provides a comfortable grip during use. The double-stage mechanism ensures effortless cork removal, whether for standard or longer corks, enhancing the user experience. Additionally, it comes in an attractive bottle-shaped wooden box, perfect for special occasions, which adds a touch of sophistication to any gift-giving moment. However, some may find the price point a bit on the higher side compared to basic corkscrews, which can be a drawback for those seeking budget-friendly options. Additionally, while the craftsmanship is exceptional, the wooden box may not offer the same level of durability as metal cases, making it less ideal for frequent travelers.Overall, it is a delightful blend of style and practicality, making it a must-have for serious wine lovers.

The wine key itself is impressive. It's larger that what I'm used to using, has some weight to it, and it looks really nice. Everything seems well put together and it can certainly open a bottle of wine. The cutter doesn't seem to work that well. It's cuts are messy and inconsistent, but maybe it's just me. I think the wine key by itself could be worth maybe $20.The wooden holder it comes in leaves much to be desired. It's cute, but it feels cheap. The wood is unfinished, the two haves don't line up, and the foam inside just falls right out. It's worth maybe $10.I recommend getting this on sale, otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

I was skeptical because of some reviews, but I am thrilled I purchased the Semecca Corkscrew. It opens wine bottles effortlessly, and the two-stage design is brilliant. The wooden bottle-shaped box is a special feature that distinguishes it from others. Weighing 240g, it’s far more durable than the flimsy 90g corkscrews I've used before. This corkscrew is definitely worth every cent of the $59.98 price !

The Semecca Corkscrew Wine Opener imakes a wonderful gift for the wine enthusiast. The opener itself is very robust and very attractive. It is much heavier than the dozen or so other waiter style openers I have. I like using it very much. The wine bottle wooden case is also very nice and quite creative making this a nice and unusual gift. It fits in a standard wine rack and makes a nice conversation piece as you open up that first bottle of wine. My only issue is the price. I think it is a little high. But if you're looking for that special gift that is thoughtful and different and cost isn't the issue then you will love this opener.Update: This opener has opened about 50 bottles so far and looks and feels just like new. The opener is robust and I'm sure it will last for many more years.

This is the most expensive corkscrew I’ve ever owned. It’s super high quality and anyone will be able to tell that as soon as they get their hands on it. This isn’t something for your spoon drawer. Its made to be displayed on a shelf. If you are a wine connoisseur, with a fancy wine rack / display. If you decant wines, always drink from the proper glasses, do wine tastings, etc. than this is for you.To me, the most unique thing about it is the wooden bottle / case. It’s a conversation piece. I wish it was stained darker or something. That would make it look more refined and appealing. Maybe I’ll to that myself. The inside has a nice velvety foam mold, however, the foam appears to be of a low quality which retains even the slightest finger pressure or nail mark (tip the screw out, don't dig for it), but that's about the only fault I can find with it.I know its very expensive compared to corkscrews you can buy at your local grocery stores, but I don’t think this is designed to appeal to that target market. Its for that someone who has everything and likes fine wine. Hey, I drink wines that have screw tops and come in boxes. I’m no snob when it comes to wine, but I do know a good one when I taste it and I do appreciate the ceremony that goes along with opening one. When that rare occasion comes up, this is the corkscrew I will bring to the table.

This wine opener is quite weighty. It works well for its intended use and the details of the wood on the handle is very classy. The box it comes in is definitely of significantly lower quality than the opener itself. The price of this opener also fluctuated significantly - at the time I ordered it the price was listed at close to $150, not long after it dropped to around $70, and now it's around $30. That's a massive fluctuation and seems a little strange. I likely would order this again at its newest listed price but re-box it if it was for a gift.

The Semecca wine opener is attractive, sturdy and easy to use. The wine opener is neatly packaged in a wooden box. The box is shaped like a wine bottle, which makes it giftable for wine lovers or collectors. The wine opener itself is easy to use, featuring a smooth mechanism that helps extract the cork with minimal effort. The rosewood handle feels comfortable in hand. It looks quite elegant, and substantial but doesn't feel overly heavy. The overall quality of the corkscrew is solid, and it makes opening a bottle of wine a smooth, enjoyable task. The double stage provides extra leverage, ensuring that even older, stubborn corks come out without any hassle. Overall, this wine opener is a reliable, attractive tool that makes wine opening both easier and more enjoyable. Full marks from me!
