I was looking for BUHW-2. Turns out there discontinued. I bought these BU8H plugs thinking there close enough and available. Then I just got a parts motor with my 87 Mercury Classic 50 45hp. It happen to have a relatively new set of the BUHW-2 in it. I pulled all 4 and replaced the 4 new BU8H l just bought because I called tech support at NGK to get the skinny on there plugs. He told me that while the BUHW-2 has a heat rating of 12. The BU8H has a heat rating of 8 and is not a replacement. The spark is far too cold. The BUHW differs from the BUHW-2 in that apparently the distance from the electrode to the edge of the metal encircling it is shorter or closer which makes the BUHW a cooler plug as well. Not the replacement either. The reason for the discontinued status probably 2 fold. 1 the supply chain wasn't able to supply the tungsten required and 2 Mercury doesn't use the plug in any of there newer models. He wasn't able to tell me if any of the 22 plugs that cross-reference with the BUHW-2 use a tungsten core. So there's what i know about that. Hope it help's square away the Mercury spark plug issue many of us find ourselves in. If ya want the tungsten in your plugs l guess we'll all have alittle "home work" to do to find it. Bought these for my Mercury XR6 150 outboard. This is what is recommended by the OEM. Decent price on the pack of 6 plugs.

Exact size for my 1987 mariner 150. Nicely packaged and well sealed. Appear to be original Bosh plugs. Best price I have found.
