The machine is working the way expected to do. The ice is good. It is a good item to have when you have grandchildren over or party that has children and hot weather.

My kids love Kona Ice, which is a fundraiser their school does where they sell shaved ice once a month. Now we can make it at home.There's a learning curve, so I definitely recommend reading the manual and taking time to watch some Youtube videos. Also keep in mind that the pods are fairly small, so each frozen pod is only going to make a relatively small amount of shaved ice. That's why they give you 8 of them, but you may want to buy extras if you have a large family and they'd like more than a small serving each. I very quickly discovered that 8 isn't enough for us.You have to let the ice sit for a bit after you get it out of the freezer but before you shave it. Set a timer, because while it's important to let it sit, you don't want to let it sit too long, either.If you have an Instant Pot, search up instructions for shaved ice syrups. You can also make all manner of adult beverages, of course. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what more we can keep coming up with to make with this device!

This is a fun attachment for making snow or shaved ice treats. Easy to use and quick; just be sure you don't freeze the ice more than 24 hours (which can be a little inconvenient because you can't just decide you want it "now"). But comes out just like the videos show, which is always a good thing. Just freeze your own ice or juice, and even add more juice of flavored syrups when you're done, and enjoy. Very nice.

I love how products like these highlight the versatility of the KitchenAid mixer though this is the first one I've actually tried. I love shaved ice desserts and drinks so I was very interested to test this. Out of the box, there is a mixer attachment which is the device that actually shaves the ice as well as 8 plastic molds which create ice pucks for the shaver to shave. Aside from plain water, you can use juices or any liquid concoction you can dream up to freeze into ice pucks.Once you've attached the device and put the ice inside, all you have to do is flip the switch and wait for the shaved ice to be produced, which is almost instantly.Super easy and very cool, literally and figuratively!

My daughter love to use this on the KitchenAid to make shaved ice. We keep the small ice containers in the freezer so we can have shaved ice when we want. Sometimes it’s a pain to get the ice to lock into place, but once you get it in the right position it works great.

My family loves shaved ice but we didn't want another big novelty appliance, so a stand mixer attachment seemed the way to go. Overall, this is a great shaved ice attachment. It shaved the ice very thinly but not completely snow like. It had a little bit of texture but not in a bad way. It was near snow powder consistency though. The added containers for freezing ice were a must, as the machine actually requires them.I had one gripe with this attachment and it's that it doesn't feel user friendly at all. It was really hard to snap the pieces together once the ice was in the cavity. In fact, even without the ice, I had a hard time aligning the edges and locking them into place. This is very frustrating for me. But the result of the shaved ice was well enough that I can put my frustrations aside. I recommend loading the ice into the attachment and locking into place BEFORE adding the attachment to the machine. I did it the opposite way and it was a heck of a time trying to keep the mixer from moving while trying to push the other half of the attachment on. Take it from me, load the ice up first.Overall, great product. Just takes a little bit of strength to get it locked into place. But attaching the piece to mixer overall was easy.

This device was easy to attach to my KITCHENAID Bowl-Lift mixer, easy to use, and easy to clean. You receive 8 forms for making ice pucks out of water, juice, milk, coffee, etc. Only one puck fits into this device, and the pucks are not very large, so anticipate using several, especially if you are making snow for sno-cones to serve more than one or two people. The other fun use of this device is in preparing frosty adult beverages! This is not something I will get a daily use out of, but it’s wonderful to have for when it’s hot out and shaved ice with syrup or a frozen margarita sounds like heaven! If you have a large family or are having folks over, do yourself a favor and buy another set to make more pucks with. I’m tickled with this snow machine!

Although this is an aftermarket item (not brand name), the quality does seem to be quite good. Mostly plastic, but of decent thickness and sturdiness. Only time will tell how well it stands up.The unit attached easily to the mixer and was easy to use. Tried it with a frozen puree made with mango and it shaved it up nicely. One uses the small cups to make 'pucks' of ice or frozen fruit or whatever as they are sized to fit the shaver and have the grooves necessary for engagement with the turning mechanism. Slick, but does require one to have ready made ice pucks on hand. One is cautioned about putting just regular ice cubes into the unit. Hardened and/or irregular ice cubes could put extra strain on the shaving blades.As a final note, cleaning up was easy as well. Can't ask for more. Well, I can think of one thing. A container or bag or something to keep all the pieces together would have been a bonus, but not enough of a shortcoming for me to take away a star.

I just got a kitchen aid for my wedding and have been excited about getting attachments so that I can do more things. Therefore, I was really excited when I came across this ice shaver! I thought it would be fun to use for slushies and margaritas, especially during the summer, so I thought I would give it a try. While it is not a brand named attachment, it seemed to be nice quality and do the same thing. When it came, I was a little surprised at the size as it was much bigger than I was expecting, but I was still able to store it and I was impressed with everything it came with. It comes with cups for the shaved ice as well as an ice mold, meaning that it does require some set up ahead of time before using. The machine works well and I like that you could adjust the coarseness of the ice. Depending on how many servings are being made, more ice might need to be frozen ahead of time, but this is a fun and easy way to get shaved ice and I have really enjoyed this product. Would definitely recommend!

This is the first off brand attachment I got for my mixer. Always the sceptic, I was happy upon opening the box. It appears to be durable and fits the attachment hub perfectly. Another happy find is the instruction booklet. I often worry an item will come with little to no instructions but these seem adequate. I will say that the instructions should be read before attempting end product. As mentioned in other reviews, the ice is used up quickly so if making the treats for several people, some advanced ice planning is necessary! I did wind up getting another set of 8 besides the 8 that are included in the box.The instructions (as well as other reviewers) state to leave the ice out of the freezer for a few minutes before shaving. This will hopefully extend the life of the blades.I can see this being a party hit and I see some Margarita shave ice in my future!
