Bought to secure a 8x10 shed in my area required by my county building codes. I was concerned about some complaints regarding removing the driving rod after hammering it in. With some helpful tips received, REMOVE the plastic protective tips on rod. ( come that way for protection only) Grind down slightly, the top edge of rod going into the anchor hole. I sprayed some lubricant in the hole of the device, just because. No ,problems at all. The rod came out EASILY after some serious pounding. Great anchor and the county building inspector OK'd it and got the seal of approval.

Like other reviewers mentioned, the driving rod gets stuck and is next to impossible to remove. Even after trying the tips suggested by others.Installed the first one but took over 20 minutes to remove the rod. Installed the second one, but as you can see from the photos, the tip broke off in the ground and the casing cracked from the continuous hits on the driving rod. Also, it came right out of the ground after all that. Didn’t bother to try the third or fourth one. Do not buy this product. Wish I could return it or get my money back, but I have one stuck in the ground and the other is broken. Do not recommend.

These anchors are great and have super strong hold. I just put in 4 to stake up some 15’ green giants that were leaning after a storm. They’re very similar to the duckbill 68-DB1’s I have used in the past. These are little smaller, but with a thicker and longer cable. Also you have to make your own loops at the end with the included clamps, or do what I did using M5 crimping sleeves. The only problem with this anchor kit is the driving rod. It’s a little too thick and will bind in the anchor. I filed a little off the end and it still got stuck. So I ground the rod down some more and it worked flawlessly. One star off for having to modify the driving rod. I will definitely buy again when needed.

I put these in some terribly rocky / sandy ground with some clay for good measure. I'm using them to anchor a greenhouse. I used a 12lbs sledge hammer as its what i have, and I'm glad I had it for my conditions. First one of 8 ( I bought 2 packs) went good... The second wasn't good at all. I couldn't remove the rod from the ground. I had to eventually use chain and the skid-steer to pull it out. It was set at least 18" deep and when it came out, the anchor came with it, surprisingly. By tapping the anchor back from the rod, i was able to free it. I had a closer look and the problem is how the rod is cut. The rod isn't round as its sheared off at the factory. This makes it somewhat oval, and I suspect that the cast anchor has a very slight taper in the pocket for the rod. The force of the 12lb hammer manged to jam the rod in the anchor.Take a grinder with a flap wheel and taper the end of the rod to make it round again and very slightly pointed. After doing this, I had no further problems at all, and a slight pull by hand would leave the anchor in the ground, and the rod came right out.

I installed these hooks on a gazebo near the ocean front in Nova Scotia 2 years ago. A little bit of slack developed in the wire after the building settled. We just experienced Hurricane Fiona and the wind blew the gazebo off it’s blocks and towards the ocean. The anchors were the only thing holding it back. Getting more of these to tie down whatever else I have before the next storm! The pounding rod got wedged in the hole and is stuck. We used rebar to drive the other ones in.

I ordered these to anchor down our deer stand when I could not get the auger anchor into the hard ground where it's located. I used a metal stake about the same size as the driving rod to make a "pilot" hole in the dirt and make sure I didn't hit any large rocks. The cables drove in with relative ease with an 8lb sledge. About every half dozen hits I would turn the driving rod and lift it slightly to make sure it would come out. When the cables were at depth, the rod was "stuck" and I did have to work it back and forth a bit to get it out. Once the rod was out, a slight pull of the cable and they were rock solid. I didn't expect them to work as well as they did.

UPDATE: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! I made the mistake of ordering these again and they are still the same garbage as before. The problem with leaving the rod in the ground is that these anchors can't swivel sideways to do their job, so they are completely useless.I've used similar products in the past without issues, but this one is complete garbage. I purchased two kits. One to use with a trampoline and the other to use with a canopy swing. I started with the trampoline, once I pounded in the first anchor, I couldn't get the rod back out of the ground. After making a lever and still not being able to get it out, I pounded it into the ground and opened the second box, thinking it was just a fluke. Pounded in the second anchor and wouldn't you know it, I couldn't get the rod back out of the ground. Never had this problem with the other system. On top of that, you get just a plain rod to drive these into the ground. The other one came with a 3" piece that slid onto the top of the rod to give you a larger surface to pound on.Bottom line, don't bother with these, it'll be a bigger headache than it's worth. The only other option I can think of is to plan on purchasing rebar to pound each one into the ground and leave the rebar in the ground with the anchors.

Finger weg.

I needed to anchor several little building projects on the end of an exposed ridge. The wind load can be scary. After installing 16 of these EasyHook anchors I feel much safer. Some thoughts on installation. As mentioned by others, use the driving rod by itself to drill the hole for the anchor. Then, drive the anchor into the hole with the rod.For me, the hardest part was extracting the rod from some wet Virginia clay. A Vise Grip was essential, plus a pry bar and some wood scraps for a fulcrum. The Vise Grip created a purchase on the rod so it could be pried out of the ground.I was impressed with the driving rod. There was a rod in each kit but I only used one rod. It stood up to all the pounding for 16 anchors, remaining straight. The top mushroomed a bit, of course, under a 4 lb hammer. Good reason to wear eye protection and gloves. The little plastic caps should be removed from the rod before use. They merely protect potentially sharp edges while in transit. The cable clamps were preassembled. That saved time. Simply thread a clamp onto the cable, then bend the cable's bitter end around the object to be secured and back into the clamp. Snug the nuts with a 7/16" drive socket wrench. For some applications the best approach may be to wrap the cable around an exposed structural element such as a joist. When that's not possible, consider drilling a 3/16" hole as a purchase for the cable. Drill the hole on a slant (10-30 degrees) so water will not collect and rot the wood. Then pound the anchor into the prepared hole until the cable is taught.I liked these well-made anchors, their cables, and clamps. Very nice materials in a good design. My neighbor will be using some of these anchors soon.
