First off, I love aluminum parts on my ATVs and SxS. They are durable and long-lasting. But in this case I think I should have gone with a plastic shift gate instead of an aluminum one. The shift shaft on my KRX is metal, and it rubs this aluminum shift gate causing wear on the shift gate and grooving on the shift shaft where it rubs the shift gate. I tried to use some thick heat shrink tubing as a sort of buffer between the two metals but the shift gate cut into it almost immediately. I'm going to try to find a thin plastic sleeve to go around the shift shaft but that's going to be tough to match up and get the size perfect. Needs to be big enough to go around the shift shaft yet small enough to still easily fit through the guides in the shift gate.Overall it's a quality item. I just think that the scraping that happens when I shift is going to tear up the shift gate and shifter shaft over time, and that could have been prevented by using a plastic shift gate. I hate plastic things but in this case plastic is actually the right material to use. Still giving it 4 stars because it does what it's supposed to do, it looks good, and others might not care so much about scratching things up.
