This thing is a decent value for the expense, but it is plastic and not the most robust plastic of all time. It seems to work for the intended purpose, but you have to use some caution while tightening it. I bought this specifically for a pair of Solovair boots. The left boot fit perfectly, but for some reason the right boot was tight across the top of the foot. This stretcher has made that a whole lot better and I think with repeated uses it will take care of it all the way.Few things I wish I had known: This stretcher is a little slippery, so it can slide out of the area where you want it to stay. I just wedged a sock behind it, but it would be nice if it had some rubber grippies on the bottom (I may add some myself). Also, the crank handle takes some messing around. It works fairly well, but for anything taller than a sneaker, it is hard to turn smoothly. The angle just makes it a pain. My boots are fairly short, as boots go, but it is still a challenge.Overall, it is working and it is better than a more serious investment in a wooden one or something. Especially because it isn't going to be used all that often. I bought it to fix one pair of boots. If you need to use it on a bunch of footwear, then you are probably buying the wrong size in general.

This’s tool (in conjunction with Shoe Stretch) is great. I have been able to save a pair of sneakers and work boots with this.It can take a little practice to open it up in a tall boot (bend the leg down and back so the arm is at a 45 degree angle so you can twist it wider (it will not spin if at 90 degrees)) and a block may be required for the heel as it will want to slip backwards in the shoe to the part of least resistance. A Block holds it in place so it stretches where you need it to overnight.It feels sturdy for the purpose, does the trick and opens up new shoe opportunities in the future. I am happy with this purchase.

First problem is there's no directions on how to use the little extra part to allow more stretching, there's not even a place to attach it. Secondly, I soon understood the reasoning behind the first problem because it broke after the first gentle use so no need to explain how to use the extra part if needed.
