It also comes with a self-contained automatic switch to detect and maintain a safe water level. That's right from the description. It does not have a automatic float switch. But other than that works fine

This thing is great! I purchased the 800 GPH model. I put my garden hose in my boat and turned it all the way on. My house has ~60 PSI water pressure at my outdoor spigot. This pump moved the water out at almost exactly the same rate at which it came in. If my boat is taking on more water than that, I'm hitching a ride with someone else!Solid construction and I really like the detachable base plate/ mounting plate.

This pump works very well. I had a bellow leak from my outdrive and this emptied the bilge without any problem. The only problem is I need a new starter because my old bilge pump failed me on a previous trip. I had to get in the lake a 2nd time to find where my leak was. My advise to anyone is ALWAYS make sure your pump works before getting the boat in the water. I failed to do that and it cost me a new starter because the water got too high in the bilge and covered my starter without me knowing about it. The old pump was half of this so an upgrade was needed. This kicks out the water fast and fits in a tight spot for it's small size. I hope it lasts many years to come. My boat is a 1986 4WINNS with a 3.0 engine and is 16' long.

These will go on a project I plan to finish this winter. Although I haven't used these in a "working situation", I wired them up in a test tank and ran them for a half hour...they flat get with the program. I fish the gulf of Alaska in a 22' pacific dory. When I can't avoid taking a wave...it happens...I want to move that water out asap. The price on these is way under other pumps that for all intents and purposes appear to be identical in both specs and performance.
