I bought this throat strap to add as a safety feature to a hackamore/one ear headstall combo in order to prevent the entire thing from slipping off should the horse shake it's head. I had planned on cutting it down since so many others reported that it was long. Instead I found that it was just as long as all my other throat straps on all my other western headstalls. The only difference was that the holes were closer together. I drilled several more holes, oiled it, added a keeper for the excess strap to go into, and added it to my headstall and it turned out great. It matched my dark oil headstall almost perfectly in both color and hardware. In fact, it would match several of my dark oil headstalls and seemed to be one of the more "universal" replacements I found on Amazon.

This is a nice quality throat strap that has a round buckle that matches the hardware on my bridle.

The strap arrived on time. It is pretty good quality leather. Was too long for my little paso fino horse, but my husband put some new holes in it and shortened it. It works great.

You get what you pay for in leather products. I wanted a cheaper throat latch for a extra bridle and this one fit the bill. Not too bad for the price.
