The KERWINN Single-Side Interlock Circuit Breaker/Manual Transfer Switch is being used to switch woodshop power from Grid to Solar. When Solar power is abundant in the afternoon, I can run the equipment on it. In the evening, I can switch to Grid energy.

This is exactly what I needed for my solar/generator powered RV.

I received all pieces that are supposed to be in the kit, unlike some other reviewers, but would recommend that this device be used with extreme caution if you are not confident/trained to perform electrical work. Use of this device in the wrong manor can seriously harm or kill someone if this is used for a 240V/50A system. My neighbor, who is a professional licensed electrician helped me with the installation. The key note about this transfer switch is that it is only interlocked on 1 side; meaning if you have the left switch ON / right switch OFF, and then flick the right switch to ON, it will automatically turn the left switch OFF (i.e. interlocked so both can't be on at the same time). The same automatic interlock function doesn't apply the other way around though; instead the device makes it so that you physically cannot move the left switch back to ON while the right switch is also in the ON position. The right switch must be turned off manually before the left switch will move back to ON. So it is safe, and provided protection in both switching directions, but they are different types of protection. One other reviewer stated that he could in fact turn the left switch ON and the same time as the right switch being ON which would be a major safety concern and risk. Hopefully his was just a defective unit. This isn't an UL listed electrical device so honestly use it with caution and at your own risk.

This device arrived broken, already used, the bag of screws was already opened, and the switching mechanism is defective. It arrived packaged well, with all the broken and defective pieces included, so this came directly from the factory like that.

I have reported this to Amazon and I am waiting for their response. No way to contact the vendor. I will update as soon as I hear something.Amazon - I know you don't like negative reviews, but this is a safety issue. If you choose to reject my review at least pull the product for sale.First of all, this product perfectly solves a need that I have to switch between shore power and generator power in a trailer based workshop. It is nicely made, professional, and comes with a short piece of DIN rail for mounting.BUT, the mechanical isolation between utility and generator power is inadequate and DANGEROUS. This switch can potentially electrocute a utility lineman during a power outage. Except for this failure of interlock this product works as advertised. So let me explain. This unit consists of four spst circuit breakers used as switches, ganged together. Left to right are switch numbers 1 through four. Switches 1 and 2 are physically ganged together, switches 3 and 4 are physically ganged together. In the configuration of lockout between two power sources, the output of switch 1 and 3 are connected together for one leg, and the output of switch 2 and 4 are connected together to form the other leg. (If you don't understand this - you should not be doing the installation yourself. Find an electrician or knowledgeable help.)So, imagine that L1 and L2 of utility power are connected to switch 1 and 2, respectively. Generator L1 and L2 are connected to switch 3 and 4, respectively. Imagine switch 1/2 and switch 3/4 are off. The load is not powered by either source. Now, turn on switch 1/2, which will connect utility power to the load. Now, utility power goes out, so you start the generator, and while leaving switch 1/2 ON, you turn on switch 3/4. As soon as you begin to move switch 3/4, switch 1/2 automatically turn off. Break before make. Now your generator is connected to the load. This works as it should.OK, you are running on generator, and you are curious if utility power has been restored. (It hasn't, but you have to test.) You forget to turn switch 3/4 off (cause we are human, and it is dark) and you turn on switch 1/2. Switch 3/4 IS NOT automatically switched off, and switch 1/2 sends generator power back into the utility mains, potentially electrocuting a linesman who is working to restore power. This unit fails the basic thing it is supposed to do - lockout the generator and utility power. Now, what if utility power was restored? Well, the output of your generator and utility power are connected together, and this can be very destructive. If you are lucky, only breakers will trip, but you could destroy the generator, blow out breakers, damage wiring, start a fire, and suffer eye or hand injury. No, I'm not a drama queen, you are shorting together two 240 volt AC sources. Now, if you REMEMBER to switch off the generator switch 3/4 before engaging utility power, this unit will work perfectly. But if we always remembered things, we wouldn't need a functioning interlock, would we?This product absolutely fails the interlock function and I do not recommend buying it. In fact, it should be pulled off the market. If the switch I received is defective and the manufacturer replaces it, this review will be completely rewritten. I would recommend the manufacturer includes a set of directions, that as backup, outlines the process of turning one power source off before selecting another, instead of relying on the interlock. A mechanical failure under these circumstances could kill a lineman.
