It is a little thin, similar to a foldable sunshade for your car. It's a nice big size and I think it will do well in the summer. I'm not sure about its longevity in the elements, but depending on the size of the pen or cage, you could double it and make it thicker. This could work for a window/door to block out the sun as well. Lots of uses other than its intended use.

The material was much thinner than expected. I put it over the top of a pet playpen that I was using for some 4 week old kittens. Their momma died, so I bottle fed them and helped them go potty until they were old enough. They had started climbing the net on the play plan and getting out, so I needed a cover to keep them in at night. By the second day, they had figured out how to push it up and get out under it, so we didn’t get much use out of it. For just blocking the sun or providing shade to pets that have no need to be kept under it, then it might be fine. It just didn’t work for what I needed it to do.

Thought it was going to be something I would have to replace every other month, but boy was I wrong. It's going to last even during the summer, even with the many south TX summer storms. Quality product and works as advertised. Highly recommend.

This works exactly as it should be the very thin material makes me wonder how long it will last. It says it is made out of polyester and polyester is generally pretty strong... time will tell.

This cover/floor mat seems to be a single layer of lightweight polyester fabric that is black on one side and silver on the other. The edges have straps inside that can be cinched at each of the four corners and/or used to secure/tie down the cover/mat.Using the silver side to face the sun is probably best because the black side will probably absorb, rather than reflect, heat. And we have no idea how well the material will last long term against the sun's UV.Fortunately, we don't have those concerns because we got this for the floor mat application. And while we are a little disappointed in how thin the material is, it is very slick/slippery to make clean ups easy.

I'm not using this as intended. I have a bench that I keep a stray cat's food & water bowl under & I needed a way to keep it out of the weather. Since this is waterproof & it is cause w've had several rains...it fits perfectly & is doing the job I wanted it to. We have bad winds her & it hasn't frayed or come apart, which tells me, it's made well

It'll keep your pet shaded. It won't work for what I wanted to use it for. I'll find some use for it. It will be nice to have to shade a dog pen or something like that.
