This snowblower works great. It cleared my driveway of 90 feet on one charge.

My old snowblower was a 24” gas engine monster that was powerful, self-propelled and weighed a ton. So that is my reference point. This little light-weight SKIL battery powered machine definitely doesn’t come close in power, and I have to push it. But I’ve adjusted to its limitations, and I now think of it as my Little Workhorse! My first use was on 10” of snow accumulation on my big deck. The SKIL machine is light enough that I could pick it up and carry it up to my deck … something inconceivable with my old monster. By experimenting, I found I could keep the machine from getting overloaded by making 2 passes. On the first pass, I left 1-2’ of depth behind. Without the skid bar scraping on the deck, I could push that little machine easily, and it ate that snow up as fast as I could push it. On the second pass, it easily cleaned up what was left (see picture). No more shoveling on the deck!My second use was on 2” of very wet snow on my steep driveway. It was surprisingly very hard to push that lightweight machine uphill. The design of the snowblower tilts the weight forward so the skid bar contacts the ground to clean all the way to the bottom. But that friction makes it hard going uphill. I learned to brace myself and push about 3’ at a time. (I need to find an easier way). Going downhill was a breeze, so time-wise it evened out. It threw that wet snow easily across the width of my driveway (12’).It quit on me several times. Sometimes it would restart for me without me making any changes. (I think maybe the jostling during use caused a temporary break in the electrical connections). When that didn’t work, I learned to check the battery. When the battery was spent, it showed all red bars. If there was still battery power left, popping it out and reseating it seemed to do the trick. I also tried it with some SKIL 2.5AH batteries I had. Worked fine, but as expected didn’t last as long. But good to know I have other batteries I can use.Overall I am very pleased with my Little Workhorse. I have learned to work within its limitations … and I’m still getting to know its quirks. But it does the job for me.

Having many of Skils' other 40V cordless tools, I bought this snow blower hoping that the negative reviews about this problem were over reacting. Well, they're not over reacting. It can't seem to handle the cold weather as best as I can figure. If it's 20F or less it seems to go into this overload condition after only a few minutes of use and just shuts down. Even with a warm battery as I keep the battery in the house. Too bad as it seems to be fairly well made and their other tools work great. I called Skil customer support and they recommended I return it. I think they are aware of this issue. Back it goes.Update: I've decided to keep it. The more I use it the more it seems to work better. It still shuts down but then it starts back up again. I haven't been able to figure out a pattern. I just need it for sidewalks and it gets the job done eventually.

From the moment I started using this machine it would stop every 10-20 feet. If you push the button TWICE then pull the bar it will finally start running again. I used it on snow ~6 inches deep and powdery, not even heavy. It just keeps quitting. I had already unboxed it an attempted to use it so there's no way to return it.I had every hope a Skil branded item would work. I've had a Skil saw for years.DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!Complete WASTE of hundreds of dollars!

I finally decided to try this snow blower since I own the lawn mower and have been very satisfied with it. Also, they use the same battery. The packaging was good. The blower is much better than I expected: larger, sturdy, n8ce quality, runs smooth, low noise, easy assembly. Has good power. Great value for the money. It definitely should throw snow a good distance with the steel auger and rubber. Ready for some Winter weather, now!

Update: February 2024. I have been using this blower for 1.5 years. Two winter seasons and I love it. I added pictures this year so you can see. I can do two driveways one is 190 feet long and the other 80 feet long in 40 minutes. It really scraps the snow and ice off my driveway. The battery last at least 1 hour. I even do my back patio deck and walkway. Anything under 5" is great. Over that I use my gas engine blower. This thing rocks!! This year we got over 80" of snow since November 2024. More than any year ever living in Southern Michigan.November 2023: This is one of the best snow blowers on the market. The battery is very large and heavy. The battery was charged in 2 hours. It works very well in the snow. It took me 20 minutes to assemble this. Very easy to use. Awesome handle for the chute. Large wheels. The quality is A+++. I always like Skill products. They make the best products. The handle has a very nice trip to it. This is a quiet machine unlike my gas powered one which is expected. Overall, I am very impressed. For the price, you get what you pay for. Highly recommend. Must buy!!
